2026 F1 Thread

That started the day he was fired...he will be back somewhere once he finishes his "gardening leave"

A little late to the party, but here we go...

Mclaren MCL40
McLaren are fashionably late to the livery party and have teased us all with a Barcelona test livery. With the actual race livery to be revealed ahead of the official pre-season Bahrain test, we'll have to put up with this black and grey affair for now. Clearly the livery they'll use for 2026 is going to be predominantly papaya, but I have to say I actually don't mind what they've put together here.

Aston Martin AMR26
Aston's livery design team has gone all out for 2026, rolling out the AMR26 - the first Aston Martin to be developed under vehicle design guru Adrian Newey - in an inspiring traditional British Racing Green... umm..... Black?? šŸ¤”

One can only hope both the delay in arriving at the Barcelona test and the lack of livery is purely down to Adrian Newey's famed penchant for tweaking vehicle designs right up until the last minute.

Williams FW48
Even though Williams has not revealed any renders of their 2026 car, it looks like some intrepid photographer has managed to snap a spy shot of the FW48....

Williams FW48
Well, apparently the FW48 does exist and we have the renders to prove it! The eagle-eyed amongst you will note the astonishingly groundbreaking front suspension concept that does away with the concept of both push-rod and pull-rod setups 🤯🤯

Jokes aside though, the "real" car has hit Silverstone for its official shakedown (resplendent in special testing livery) and as we can see, a more "traditional" front suspension has been adopted ;)

Cadillac [Insert Name Here]
Well, Cadillac made us wait for it, but boy oh BOY have they delivered on an absolutely stunning livery for their inaugural F1 campaign!! šŸ˜

Oh... sorry... corrected images of the yet-to-be-named Cadillac F1 car are coming through now and.... oh dear.... 😢

Frankly, considering some of Cadillac's most recent IMSA/WEC liveries, it's hard to understand how they got it so wrong for their first foray into F1?? šŸ¤”

You just reminded me of a video I watched recently in which Ayao Komatsu revealed more details about the crash and just how incredible Grosjean's story of survival really was -:

Yes
In the ā€˜Survival’ room of the exhibition there is much footage not seen before. Ayao features strongly — his sense of helplessness. The driver reactions were emotional with many of them in tears, hugging and GP’s head in his hands really distraught. PS Behind the gloves is the remains of the tyre (again phenomenal). Sadly the chassis remains is in Europe

Bugger. I'm hoping to get down to the exhibit before it finishes up and had assumed the chassis was part of it. Whilst I'm not one of those people who is morbidly obsessed with crashes and such, I was very keen to see this particular one in more detail given the nature of the incident, the incredible tale of survival and the fact that it's a testament to the safety standards of modern F1. I'm sure the gloves, boots, wheel and other elements of the display are impactful on their own, however I can't help but think that the chassis would add significantly more "weight" to it all - much in the same way that documentaries about Hiroshima or Nagasaki are completely different to actually visiting the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum or the Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Museum.
