The weather and the wall won that round!

Certainly again the qualifying highlighted what a great driver Verstappen is . Oscar a little fortunate that NOR had his problem with Q3. I’m sure it will be a drama packed race.

I think that Quali went longer than the race will take tomorrow.
I am in Florence so fantastic to hear the Italian Sky team commentators ‘mamma mia’ all over the place and no Crofty/Martin acting like Lando should be a shoe-in. Interestingly (as I speak Italian), they really focussed a lot on Kimi - a bit like the Brits do with Lando so much so that they missed Oscar going into the wall.
It will be a great race - think the start will be where its won and lost.

It has been interesting to see the social media reaction also focusing hard on Lando 'bottling' rather than Oscar shunting hard into the wall. I see both sides, but starting that far back sure spices up the race tonight

Normally I watch a replay of Qualifying over my Wheaties on Sunday mornings, but last night's started early enough to give what normally takes an hour or so a go. Hmmm ... that went later than expected.

One observation I had was that with NOR being the first of the remaining 8 to start a hot lap, I could see from the mainly in car view that they were more than right on the edge and came close to the walls several times before giving one a final whack hard enough to lose that time. I know racing is racing but I'm thinking if it had been PIA in the same boat, they would have taken it a little easier; top four on the grid would have been fine.

Another thing is that if the NOR wall whack had been hard enough to put them out and cause a red flag then there would have been only Saintz, Hadjar and Lawson with "times". I am guessing the remaining 7 drivers without a time would be filled based on Q2 positions.

The race starts 9pm Melbourne time tonight, but I'm in two minds about whether to watch live. Apparently last year's race took less time than last night's qualifying ...

Lucky he didnt lose more points but.
Rest of the race was a bit of a snooze...

Awful race by PIA but he has owned up to the “silly mistake”. Interesting that it took NOR 41 laps just to get back to the position he started in (7th) after pit stops were sorted.

Oh, this is the F1 thread so no need to hide results behind spoiler flags. If I haven’t watched the race, I don’t read this thread until I have.
