Here's your opportunity to detail and discuss your travel plans for 2020. I find it is a great thread for providing new ideas for travel locations and experiences.

2020 for us will start in Bangkok followed by some more time in Bali. Bangkok has a few new 5 star hotels opening over the next 6 months, so plenty of options (currently thinking Rosewood or the Four Seasons).

MasterC starts school next year, so I think a mid year beach break to escape the winter blues will be in order. Location still to be determined but likely Bali again. I am keen on also going to Java to see Borobudur.

I am hoping to spend Christmas 2020 outside Australia. I would like to have a European Christmas (possibly Portugal, Spain and Italy) but we might consider South Korea and Japan instead.

Already? I haven't even worked out all my travel plans for this year yet.

The only plan I have for next year is try not to be within 5 time zones either side of UTC+9 during the sports ball annoyance fest.

We are well advanced on our 2020 travel plans. Not as adventurous as the past as the years are rolling by.
As usual 2 major trips.
First is in May.The main destination is London for the Chelsea flower show.Almost certainly a bit of time in Japan before that and visit Kawaguchiko again as some great gardens plus another chance to see Mt.Fuji.
after the flower show a driving adventure mainly concentrating on Wales.Because of Tony Hancock we are not forgetting Fishguard.:D
Return via Bangkok as usual.

The second begins in October. We have booked and paid for a Silversea cruise Athens to Venice with stops in Rhodes,Albania,Montenegro,Croatia and Slovakia.
A week driving around southern Spain and joining the then new Silver Moon in Barcelona for a Trans Atlantic crossing to Miami. So far up to 18 people we have met on Silversea or Cruise Critic will be on board.
Coming home will depend on award availability.

Haven't even turned a blind eye towards 2020 - we're well and truly still working on 2019. Now that we've got a truck load of points that can be toasted on 10 airlines - the sky's the limit :)

Including MrsM and MissM (so 3 of us) normally do a couple, sometimes up to 4 international each year based on school holidays for around 7-10 days and every other year there is a 4-5 week in the mix.

2020 is one of the 'every other years':
  • already booked AU-NZ
  • Also planning to book AU-SG-JP-UK/EU-US-CA-HK-AU
  • I also think KR may be in the mix for next year
Then there are the work trips.

To early to say, dare say there will be a WRC event or two, perhaps even more and hopefully a few countries that I haven't visited but MrsC has, so I can get further than her in our important competition!

Hoping more Myanmar, and of course Laos, but much later in the year than the last couple and in a 4x4, still no desire to go to the States nor the PRC.
A few trips to visit friends in NZ, even if they live near where 'Brokenwood Mysteries' is filmed, too many murders for my liking.

Japan, definitely but not when the olympics are on, and as some one else said, going to go somewhere to try and avoid the round ball game commonly known as SBS!

Who knows what LE will offer up, and we have also been wanting a European winter christmas market trip for a while as well, maybe next year.

About the only thing I can say with some degree of certainty is i may end up in SF at some stage next year, based on my previous couple of years experience.

Beyond that I'm not even truly sure of the extent of my 2019 travels :)

Greece. Islands and Peloponnese. A new destination for us. About four weeks. Decided the private tour thing again is for us. Drivers, ferries and hotels all done so we don't have to bother. Now to decide when. Aug into Sept? All September?

Then we'll add a few long weekends again like this year. Back to NZ. Vanuatu. Perth.

It seems like ages ago I posted a response on this thread but looking at the date it was 2 weeks back. As an update 2020 and 2021 may have more travel than originally planed, so far:
  • booked AU-NZ (EK F)
  • yesterday booked AU-SG (QF F), SG-JP (JL J), JP-NYC (JL F). Not a planned trip, however MrsM mentioned she still wants to go to Sleepy Hollow and back to the Met, as I only a need a sniff of a reason to go to JP or NYC and both in one trip - bonus. I have not worked out the return so we may be be stranded in Manhattan, I can live with that.
  • Still need to plan the family trip (F and J combo) AU-SG-JP-UK/EU-US-CA-HK-AU, and
  • KR may slip to early 2021.
The travel may seem a bit excessive, however I recently decided to give QF the flick, domestic is just getting to expensive and international based on my recent experience is on the spiral of despair. With 18 months to run as a WP1 my focus is to redeem every single QFF point I have on premium travel across 2019/20/21.

  • Sept/Oct 2019 - Vietnam then National parks in US (Yellowstone and Utah) - on CX mistake fare ex HAN + LM award in J/F to/from SYD and HAN
  • Jan/Feb 2020 - skiing in Whistler on AC over in J and NH back for Mr LL in J and AC/OZ back in J for me using LM
  • March/April 2020 - South Africa (Cape Town) then Ponant cruise Cape Town to Seychelles (3 weeks ) then 14+ days in Seychelles and Mauritius on SQ J award to CPT then home on SQ *A award MRU-JNB-SIN-SYD in J
Need to think of something(s) for second half of 2020.

The second begins in October. We have booked and paid for a Silversea cruise Athens to Venice with stops in Rhodes,Albania,Montenegro,Croatia and Slovakia.
Slovakia? Or Slovenia?

Great donuts in Slovenia.
Cheers,
Renato

I'm hoping for a long stay (4 to 6 weeks) in either Ubud or Chiang Mai if starts align, UK in August for a family birthday and Jogjakarta as an outright visit if not a side trip from Ubud.

Also want to find some creative routings up to Europe.

Was looking for this thread as I have some plans for 2020.

Jan: Quick weekend trip to Singapore.
March: Vietnam on Cathay with a 1 or 2 night stop in Hong Kong on the way back.
June: Emirates, stop in Dubai, Manchester, Dundee(Scotland) Amsterdam, London and home on QF10.
November, New York, if I get good enough to run the New York marathon with a side trip to South Florida.

The June trip is most likely it was half planned for this year but lack of finances delayed it for a year.
