It’s a quiet year ahead for Mr Ralphie and I, so either a a week and a half driving around Tassoe or watching cricket in New Zealand

We are trying to do some type of travel every 6 weeks in 2019, even if it is a weekend away exploring local destinations. We have the following booked so far

January: local trip to Tin Can Bay to feed the dolphins
March: cruise to 5 ports in Papua New Guinea from Brisbane (new destination for both of us)
June: J reward on SQ A350 BNE to SIN then cruise from Singapore, Vietnam, Hong Kong and returning reward J on VA to BNE via SYD (Vietnam is a new destination and the purpose of this trip)
October: Fiji (yet to be booked)

Lots of work travel in between which we can turn into weekends away and include any Australian state and New Zealand.

We have Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Hong Kong May 2019. It’s only a quick trip due to the wife having a new job and could only get 2 and half weeks off.

Hi all, first post.

Got one trip planned so far in January. Taking the wife away for her birthday (surprise) along with the kids. Flying QF (EK CS) and BA. Got Y for QF and J on BA, plus my first A380!

BNE - DXB - CDG - LHR - GLA - LHR - CDG - DXB - BNE

DXB is just transit, but got about 10 days in Paris, 3 in London and 4 in Scotland. Never been to Europe so looking forward to it.

Spur of the moment but Darwin for Aug 2019 is cancelled and got J reward seats to Perth for the Bledisloe game. Not that its much of a series as its RWC 2019 but still, havent seen the Wallabies lose in Perth yet so adding it to the list.

I am going to be so on your back for a Trip Report on this trip! Especially visas etc. ( If needed) :)

Hi all, first post.

Got a conference in San Diego late next year so considering tacking on a two to three week trip around California. So many places there I've always wanted to visit but have usually spent time in LA only and then rushed on somewhere else. Joshua Tree, Yosemite, Mammoth Lakes, Sequoia, Lake Tahoe, Sonoma, San Francisco, Big Sur and back along the coast to LA. Nice and easy trip with plenty of pretty economical AirBnB options (and others) along the route. I've been right up north in California before so won't head there this time.

Off to Europe in July 2019 for 6 weeks with Mrs R and another couple. Spain for a week, Portugal for another week and off to Britain where its a hire car and drive through England, Wales, Ireland and Scotland and back to London for 5-7 days.

Booked J seats all the way from Hobart to Barcelona as well as returning from London to Hobart. Need to book a couple of short flights from Spain to Portugal and on to England. Plan to spend a day in Dubai on the way home.

Booked some things yesterday with the Qantas double status thingy.

Canberra to Hong Kong in late May, returning late June. Don't intend staying there, using it as a jumping off point to Europe, hopefully. Probably Sardinia for the World Rally Championship round, but that may change. Vienna to see friends and possibly Bucharest.
If the European Historic Rally Championship goes back to Asturias in Spain, that is also a possibility.

To finish off this year, it's Coffs Harbour in the middle of November and Tassie for a week in late November, early December, both for rally related stuff!

Still haven't decided on what to do in Myanmar in late Feb, apart from flying in and out of Yangon, can't rush there things!

Also we have a week in Laos between our bookings in March at the Sofitel in Luang Prabung, trying to find a river trip, but dates don't fit.

Singapore on SQ j on Xmas day returning on 2 Jan. avoids all the Xmas arguements on where we are going for lunch/ dinner etc.

Enjoy! We've done a few Christmas Day flights and it changed how we now enjoy Christmas (Cradle Mountain this year).

Hiking the Camino de Santiago, all 500 miles of it. Afterwards exploring the south of Spain and Morocco with a few days in London bookending the trip.

  Hiking for 500 miles! That'd kill me. No helicopters available? ;)

Not sure of your itinerary but the buses we used in Spain & Portugal worked very well & comfortable

Planning Thailand right now and also maybe a short trip to NZ North Island.
I don't think Thailand is on the cards anymore.

Two maybes and a definite:
  • Maybe - Auckland for a long weekend to go see our friends and their new baby.
  • Maybe - Week in Bali to meet a friend for his 40th
  • Definite - Long weekend in HK for my high school reunion.
