2019 Travel Plans

Technically starting my 2019 trip in 2018 by flying out on the 24th Dec. But not returning until 27th Jan, so we'll say this is a 2019 trip ;)
The whole trip has been booked for 2 pax using points.

Trip is as follows:
24 Dec QF J BNE-MEL, then EK F MEL-SIN. This will be my first ever F flight, so massively looking forward to it! The fees were the same price for J, so thought why not burn an extra few thousand points and enjoy. Also, I wanted to fly on the A380, so that's why we're going via MEL. In Singapore we're staying at the So Sofitel which looks lovely from the pics, so I' hoping it lives up to expectations. Singapore will be all about eating and architecture. I love this city - minus the humidity...

27 Dec SG J SIN-HND. This will be my first A350 flight, so also looking forward to that.
Between Dec 27 and Jan 21 travel around Japan visiting friends and places from Nagasaki in the south all the way up to Kushiro in Hokkaido. Still working out the finer details, but will keep it fairly loose and mostly go with the flow. I used to live in Japan, but this is my partner's first time, so I'll be playing tour guide.

21 Jan CX F NRT-HKG. As I'm starting the trip with my first ever F experience, I thought I'd keep it going and compare it between the different carriers. This will also be my first ever Cathay flight. In Hong Kong we're splitting our five days over two places. The first two nights are at the Ritz Carlton. I generally love Ritz Carltons and this one has been on my bucket list since it was built! As it's so bloody expensive, the next three nights will be across on Hong Kong Island at the Grand Hyatt. Similar to Singapore, Hong Kong will be all about the food! It'll be my first time, so my partner will be playing tour guide for me. And then begins the trip home.

26 Jan SQ F HKG-SIN on the 777 and then SQ F SIN-SYD on the A380 in the old suites.

27 Jan QF J SYD-BNE and we're home.

All up I've cashed in 324k QF points for all flights on QF, EK and CX, and 246k SQ points. Seriously time to start collecting for the trip after this one!

I'll be in the position to do a great comparison between the F product of three different airlines and that product on four different aircraft. Needless to say, I cannot wait!

Hi, how do you get to separate your trips on one ticket? @nickfromeastryde
By commencing the first trip from HKG, allows me to "stopover" in my hometown SYD from where I booked my additional flights for trip number 2.

I needed to book a positioning flight to HKG so took advantage of the QF F award tickets currently on offer between Dec and Mar to really make it a trip to remember

Too much roughing it on that trip, I'm afraid, viz the Trip Notes " ... toilets and showers are not readily available (other than on nights 1, 9 and 10) (though there is a water basin available to wash)."

I've done my geo time living for months at a time out of a swag, but now i'm just a soft uni student and need my comforts.

Bah! Where’s the wimp button when it’s needed?:D.

I need to add a week in the Kimberley by light aircraft and helo during the wet season early next March that I recently locked in while I’ve been on the road. Fingers crossed for a spectacular wet like the region had this year.

Hmmm, it’s going to be more like half next year travelling :):):).

After just returning from a 3 week family holiday to USA (BNE/LAX/SE...GEG/SEA/LAX/BNE on VA/DL in whY), we agreed that it had been too long between international holidays (3 years) - but there were financial reasons behind the decision. So Mrs QF WP has already declared that we are going overseas to UK to visit her best friend (plus some friends of mine including @Flashback - how's that for a heads up in case 'miss you on 19th August :D)

I'd better tote up the AA points between our 7 family accounts in order so I can have enough for 2 x J and 2 x F seats on CX via HKG - after a chat with @IainF over lunch today.

Still trying to put together a plan for September, but leaning towards Prague and Budapest.

Lifemiles, AAdvantage, QFF, and Amex MR points (>Krisflyer) all in the mix.

How could I have missed this thread! Thanks to @RooFlyer. In May we have Award seats in J booked to SFO, then across to the Grand Canyon for MrP to do a two night hike in the Rim while I don’t! Then flight to Vancouver then off on a 12 night cruise into Alaska. Then pop across to Hawaii for a few nights then back to SFO and home.

In December 2019 we have booked a cruise down the Nile River again on a Viking River boat, then a five night escorted tour through Jordan and the Dead Sea. We might then go back to Israel, depends on time.

The problem of booking early. Our next trip has been thrown into disarray. The major part was B2B cruises Honolulu to Easter Island. They were cancelled today 8 weeks out from the start date and ~ 6 weeks until we were leaving home.
So back to 2018 planning.
Ah, that’s the damaged one. So close to departure too. Very :mad::mad: then.

I think we might add to our list. I've had an epiphany (plus a giant nudge from another AFF member :)) and made major changes to our CC earning. SQ suites, and a few others are now open season.

We are looking at a white Christmas for 2019 in Europe as well as some skiing for the Gentleman. I won't complain about double Europe in 2019!
