Oh and as an aside, to the poster that was espousing 'leading by example' and therefore having not having any time for Bob Hawke due to his leaving Hazel, well please correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't remember any criticism from him regarding Barnaby and his extramarital affair.

Just goes to show that anyone from any side of politics can suffer the same fate and isn't "'normal life''' a great leveler!.

Oh to be holier than thou.

Yes, we'll be voting tomorrow, even though I work close to a pre-poll location. Will be delivering #DemocracyCakes to the election stall at our church in the morning, then helping up with packing up later on, so sometime in between we'll also vote. Even if I pre-voted, I'd be attending one or two cake stalls to find some goodies!!

(I'm trying to get #DemocracyCakes to trend, as a sweet tooth, I'm more interested in cake stalls - not bake stalls - than sausage sizzles!) :p

Three of us will be voting tomorrow. First election with one of our kids of voting age. Very special feeling! But I suppose if you don’t have kids you wouldn’t give a toss....

Why would people without children not give a toss? Personally I have voting age kids and never really saw it as something special but the choice of words is somewhat poor IMO.

Nah, I like elections - brings out the worse in people. Great opportunity to see the real person....

sounds like it's going to be close in house of reps... The senate ? Who knows ? Clive might be big winner

Sound like you have been reading the Murdoch Media

The betting odds have a comfortable victory to Labor 83-61 with 7 Independents/Greens.

Palmer's only shot is a Senate seat in Qld, and even then I think the Greens and One Nation are likely ahead.
Even if he gets a seat in the Senate, the Centre Alliance (former SA Nick Xenephon team) are likely to have the main control of the crossbench

Since you’ve added more....

It’s obvious you’re just not into these things. How many posts is it now? You must be in the multiple dozens stating disinterest, dislike, disdain, disgust....

My advice, give it up and stop watching this thread.

No - it is the natural trait of the coalition voter to not give a toss about anyone else. Those tree-hugging socialists want to save their community/nation/planet. But please don't stop the vitriol against them for trying ... it is the best comic relief going in this sad and sorry excuse for an election campaign.

I think it’s insulting the way generalizations have been made in this thread. People should be ashamed of themselves for their rudeness to others just because we all come from different perspectives when we vote. Hypocrisy from both ‘sides’. When did freedom of speech become ‘agree with me or you are a nasty human being’. Natural trait? Sheesh.

Sheesh!!??!!

Can you then explain the reason why most coalition supporters don’t believe in anthropogenic climate change? (Not as vehemently as One Notion supporters I should add).

Apologies. I was being too preachy before. I’m just disappointed that when we discuss anything other than politics we are a mostly good bunch and it’s a shame that something we really don’t have that much control over is divisive.

Today is the big day for those who haven’t voted. We will be watching without getting a sausage sizzle or even a soft serve ice cream. We are in yesterday land of California as it is Friday afternoon here.

what I don't understand is, for those who believe in man made climate change, that they think Australia can do anything about it. It's surely up to China, India, USA. I guess we could stop buying anything from China?

Polls ?

Why do we talk about polls when so many lately have been so wrong ? Anyway, this am, latest poll has 1.5% differential.

One good volcano eruption somewhere in the world can do more than all of us.

Yeah - and why bother voting? After all what’s the difference one vote can make. In fact .... why don’t all you climate change deniers and disparagers just refuse to take part in this pointless circus they call democracy? Imagine the fuel savings alone if millions of the brightest intellects stayed at home rather than wasting their time voting.

I feel confident that Australia would be a far better place if you did.

We have done a lot with our energy use and recycling over the last few years at work and home as well as with our social housing projects. We voted early and we are watching from California.
I am expecting a hostile Senate result for whoever is PM and it may take a week or two for the Senate to get sorted.

so what can Australia do ? SFA ?

We could all stop driving/flying & using electricity tomorrow & it would make absolutely no difference to pollution worldwide.

recycling ? Home recycling bins, now go mostly to landfill, since China stopped importing our contaminated stuff
