I always liked his no BS attitude. This has unfortunately disappeared in modern corporate F1. At the same time I think a lot of F1 drivers who had their racing career in the 60s/70s must have felt they were living on borrowed time anyway...Yes I just saw that on The Guardian site - very sad as he wasn't very old (and I'm getting close to that myself).

If on pole, all the driver needs to do is keep ahead (passing is nearly impossible) and hope the crew don't forget to be around when you come in for a tire change.
