Did it through the ihg link. No didn’t tell them anything at check in just that I have a booking. It’s up to them to look at there computer screen and see what sort of booking I have. Been doing this for years and I have about 3 years worth of expired certificates at home all having been used numerous times. This year especially they just seem to assume you are using a e-cert and it’s all automatically done. Have predominantly been using IC SYD & IC Double bay
Just done another booking for this Fri/Sat night at the IC Sanctury Cove, done via the old IHG link. Everything organised, booked the basic cheapest room available ( standard room) and hoping for some sort of upgrade. Just looked into my upcoming bookings and this has been upgraded already to a 1King Bed Homestead Suite. woohoo:). Total cost for 2 nights = $199. Yes thats correct, the King Homestead Suite for $99.50 per night. Will update you if they request the certificate or automatically assume it is all taken care of

p,s My e-cert remains in my account and hasnt been taken for the booking

With my booking at the IC Montreal I handed in my certificate as it's expiry was 31/8 and all my hotels booked for the rest of the month.

Yes I am thinking they 'started' doing this on an unknown to us specific date. Didn't happen to me in the same situation in June but I figured at some point 'all' BOGO bookings would start to be automatically deducted from the account. It had to start at some point.

LoyaltyLobby are reporting now that at least one hotel - IC Singapore - took a paper AMB BOGO certificate from a booking using the weekend rate site (not the redemption link), and it still resulted in a redeemed online cert after the stay.

Cheers,
Matt.

Unbelievable !!

Most of us get busted everytime
( asked to surrender cert. )

Another stay completed and no paper cert asked for at checkin. E cert on my account is still valid. This makes 5 time I have used this one paper certificate this year

How are you still getting a paper certificate?

Well I surrendered mine even though it wasn't asked for as it was only valid for another 9 days and I didn't want my ECert disappearing.

I still have one, valid May 2020.

Will prob use it in December, but have an eCert associated with booking in June 2020 ....

But my AMB Membership renews on May 1st each year.

Messy now ....

It is a little messy and un-organised ATM, however after May (in your case, March in mine) it should be a little better with everyone on E-certs and should'nt be any paper certs left valid

I'll give the paper cert a go in the other IC Singapore (Robertson Quay) in a couple of weeks, and report back from that... I used the outside link for booking the rate rather than following the redemption link from the digital certificate in my account. Nothing to lose, I guess!

Cheers,
Matt,

Good luck. Try not to hand over the paper cert.

Stay completed last weekend; stay/points have posted... and... the digital certificate in my account is still standing! I did have to hand over the paper certificate I had with me, though... but that's fine by me.

Cheers,
Matt.

Thats good. suggest you put in another booking using the e-cert and "here's hoping".

I have both the digital and the paper certificates.

Interestingly, the digital certificate states to "redeem before" a certain date but seems to allow bookings far past that date.

That's different (I think) to the paper certificates that had to be both redeemed and surrendered by their expiry date? My paper certificate is valid until 01/2020 which I think means redeem and use by the end of January 2020?

The T&Cs state:

The complimentary weekend night may be redeemed up to 12 months from the date on which the credit is issued and is redeemable only in conjunction with a minimum two-night paid weekend stay when booking the Ambassador Weekend rate "Ambassador Complimentary Weekend Night" at any InterContinental Hotels & Resorts property (not valid at any other IHG® brands of hotels).

So, can I book a stay well into 2020 with my digital certificate and then use my paper certificate for another stay up to January 2020?

My digital cert expires march 2020. I have been able to book a stay with it at IC Double bay for end of July 2020

I was looking for this. My cert expires April 1st, 2020, however, I was trying to booking IC Mel for Easter 2020. It shows me I can continue the booking.

Just wondering, if I use my current one to book one room and wait till April 2020 upon renewal of my membership and book another room on the same two nights at same hotel, will it work
