Second biggest travel year ever for me. Platinum retained for another year which is great.

  • Northernmost: LHR
  • Southernmost: HBA
  • Westernmost: HNL
  • Easternmost: MCY
83% in Y by sectors (42 SYD-MEL hops will do that)....but 57% of the miles in J,F (which feels like quite a healthy mix)

I'm done for 2018. One of my busiest for a while and 2019 is looking just as busy.

41,386 miles (66,217 kms)
34 Sectors / 10 airports (7 Domestic, 3 International)
3 airlines: QF, VA and DL
Most visited city was MEL (5), SYD (4) with LAX, PER, CBR and ADL all 2.
J was 40% by distance, 47% by sector (all point upgrades)
20 sectors (59%) were DSC (275 SC's)
Longest sector (International): 7,156 miles (QF BNE/LAX and vv)
Shortest sector (International): 223 miles (DL GEG/SEA)
Longest sector (Domestic): 2,244 (QF PER/BNE)
Shortest sector (Domestic): 404 miles (QF BNE/EMD and vv)

This is the quietest year since I retired

16 sectors
29203 miles
new airlines UL and CA
new airport CMB

All flights shown on AFF flight tracker are from my retirement 10 years ago... 296 sectors
 
Busy year by my standards:

62 Segments
178,993km

3 of those segments still to go... A solid 75% of those flights good old fashioned bum in economy for work, but a smattering of PE, J and F to make up for it and heavily weighted to the long haul thankfully...

Some real highlights - SQ F including new a380 suites; VA a330 transcon J again and again and again; EY F lounge and 787 J suite, 747 - only second ever and with Thai in Y.
Still to look forward to - flying out of MME while it somehow still exists and finishing on a high with a intra-europe Eurowings hop.

2018 New Airlines:
Thai, South African, Comair, China Airlines, Eurowings

Most Northern and Western Airport - MME, Eastern - BNE, Southern - MEL

2019 to start high (and quickly bounce back to reality) - CX F first flight in the New Year.

Just got back from last trip - and no more for 2018, so finish on 84 segments and 307,000km - quite a drop - I did not quite make it to the moon. My hope for 2019 is to halve this again - which my finances should ensure will happen :)

And for first time ever Qantas was my number one airline - 42 sectors. And Santiago was my top airport - 42 visits. There is some sort of Answer in those stats for anyone who enjoys Douglas Adams - I just need to now resolve what the Question was.
 
Only 21 sectors this year: 51727 miles, including 9 long haul sectors in J: 44480 miles.

Five of those long haul J sectors were redemptions. This has the unpleasant side-effect of dropping from QFF SG to PS and unless I get an irresistible urge to spend more money than I need to in the next few months, which is unlikely, the descent will continue and I will land at NB. I have only been NB in the year that I joined QFF, 10 years ago!

Shortest: LKN-BOO, 64 miles.
New Airports: LCY, EDI, ARN, DOH, OSL, LYR, TOS, LKN, BOO.
New Airlines: DY, QR, SK

Longyearbyen Airport (LYR) on Svalbard (Spitsbergen), is the world’s northernmost commercial airport. Svalbard is part of Norway, but it is outside the Schengen Area. This leads to the strange situation that there is passport control for domestic flights between LYR and the Norwegian mainland.
 
It's been one of those years where I didn't have the chance to think about my travel until now. 2018 has been a busy/painful year where i cracked WP within seven months in Y for work. The numbers though:
- 105 segments
- 169,655 km
90% Domestic, 90% Y, with the remaining 10% where I've scored upgrades on the run to the UK (3 runs in 2018 - 4 out of 6 legs)
- Airports 13
- Carriers 3
- Countries 5
No new airports, carriers or countries though.
2019 is filling up already, although we have a first trip to Sri Lanka for Master K's wedding which will be heaps of fun
 
Mapped out what I remember. Probably 30-40 sectors, mostly domestic travel.

Today's trip marked my final flight for 2018! This year's travel stats are:

106,123 km
Equivalent to 2.65 times around the world
Total time 6 days 18h

Longest SCL - SYD, 11339 km, 14:36
Shortest SYD - OAG, 198 km, 00:45

J 10%, Y+ 27% and Y 63% by distance.

New carriers: SQ
New airports: SCL, CJC, PUQ, ASP, DRW, LST, KIX, NRT, MKY, DBO, OAG, ROK

And to think my first flight for 2019 is only 40 hours away....
 
Who has the earliest new year flight booked. I'm on the 2nd, but I'm quite sure there will a number here on the 1st, so what's the earliest flight time??
 
A very quiet year in 2018 due to work commitments.

At approximately 120,000nm/222,000km, this would make 2018 my least travelled year in over a decade. About 70,000nm/130,000km of domestic flying. All self funded.

Longest sector would be CDG-SIN and shortest sector would be MEL-SYD. Last sector will be SIN-HKG later today. No new cities.

Of interest, all travel was completed using only two carriers - VA and SQ. This will be the first calander year since 1992 where I have not flown a single QF sector. So the year has been very good due to that change.

Next year will be far more interesting, with ~70,000nm booked already on 7 carriers.

2018 was my biggest travel year ever, both number of sectors (62) and distance (93,098 miles) for a total of more than 9 days in the air.

New airlines: MI, AY, JL

New airports: HNL, KIX, PEK, HEL, RVN

My stats for this year reveal far too many flights in Y on the 738!
