Just saw the blurb on the ALL Accor website.
Yes, its a fair walk from T1/T2 with bags, but now, there is a way of earning ALL points, and QFF points, at the same time.
Ibis Select, and Novotel I think are opening in Jul this year.
Out the back of T4, near the AFP and Customs area, past the multi storey carpark,
Great hotels to park overnight, so to speak, for an early dep flight or a late arr int flight.
Will be looking to stay at either.

Same as the new Sofitel at Auckland Airport, new builds.

About time. It’s been sitting idle for years.

No idea what the holdup has been.

Yep. It’s probably two year late but finally opening! It’s a dual brand Ibis/Novotel property with shared facilities. I believe one side of the L is the ibis and the other is Novotel. Hopefully will put push prices down around the airport with more competition. It’s a little bit more of a walk compared to the park royal, but will be good having more options for staying close to the terminal for early morning flights with family.

Is there work down there under cover at least?

If you're coming off a domestic flight, lugging backs that distance would be a little annoying. From international not so bad as you're likely to have a trolley at least.

Also, isn't there already some form of Ibis behind the Park Royal?

Glad this is opening. There's been a few times when I've had an early flight out of MEL and would have preferred to stay at the airport, but the hotels are expensive and not very good.

More or less, I'm guessing the plan is that you access it by walking through the T4 parking complex which would be almost entirely undercover except for a brief road crossing at the end.

There's an Ibis budget but it's way out. I'm not even sure how you get there? I think you need to walk down past T1 and through/behind the servo with the McDonalds.

I've used the Mantra nearby before. Pricing is very reasonable and there's a free shuttle bus. However, it's just one more step that I find annoying, especially if you have an early flight the next day.

Last time I was down that way they didn’t really have an accessible pathway from the New Hotel to the Terminal. There was a path that ran across the road to the cargo side. You the walk the narrow path up to T4.

Not sure if they have made something more accessible for the opening.

The whole road and passenger paths down near T4 is pretty ordinary. All seems su much poorly planned and the end result for what is new infrastructure, is pretty rubbish.

Might check it out on a work trip before I book it for an International trip. Looks a decent hike with bags and probably just as easy to stay at the Parkroyal specially as a GHA Titanium they look after us well

Really not too far, maybe about 3 min from T4.

I just stayed at Mantra Tullamarine Airport which has ondemand airport shuttle. Probably a much better travel than lugging luggage over to T4 and beyond.

Decent rooms. Main reason i stayed was the $110 red hot room deal though.

Walking from the terminal just before McDonald's turn left under the roadway. Then right along side the high roadway. A rough pathway with poor lighting. Have stayed at the Ibis MEL twice.

MEL Ibis Styles Ibis Styles Melbourne Airport (opening July 2024)
MEL Novotel Novotel Melbourne Airport (Opening July 2024)
4-min walk to Terminal 4 and 3 and 10-15min walk from Terminal 2 and 1. SkyBus direct to CBD.

$330 AUD per night for a basic room on a random date in October at the Novotel! I hope these aren’t soft opening prices.
The dates I was looking at in September a basic room is $296 but they have Queen beds which is a no for me. Cheapest King room is $328.
Parkroyal is $342 and better located plus they have looked after us well previously so will just stick with them.

I've stayed there as well. While the shuttle is "on demand" I found it a little annoying in the morning getting to the airport for an early flight. There was no way to "pre-order" or know what the scheduled departure time was. Instead it was a case of heading down and waiting around for 10 minutes.

Staying at the ibis styles overnight. Its literally on the other side of the T4 carpark. RHR of $105 so we decided to stay at the airport.

Self check in was easy and bar / restaurant had a decent mood. I'll check out the breakfast tomorrow.
Welcome gift available -it had an adorable chocolate plane on it. Room upgraded to deluxe King and highest floor. I think I'm literally staring out at the long walkway to T4 gates and T4 gates. Main runway would also be visible from this spot.

Odd number rooms however face away and Novotel side would have a bit better views.

Ill see how the breakfast is tomorrow.

Not fully. You're mostly covered heading to T4 carpark I believe. But you need to literally cross the road from T4 Carpark to the hotel and walk to the entrance - so maybe 100m or so?

Yes an ibis budget on the other side so becareful if you stay at ibis styles. Google might send you to the other one if you just type "ibis".
