Just saw the blurb on the ALL Accor website.
Yes, its a fair walk from T1/T2 with bags, but now, there is a way of earning ALL points, and QFF points, at the same time.
Ibis Select, and Novotel I think are opening in Jul this year.
Out the back of T4, near the AFP and Customs area, past the multi storey carpark,
Great hotels to park overnight, so to speak, for an early dep flight or a late arr int flight.
Will be looking to stay at either.

Same as the new Sofitel at Auckland Airport, new builds.

About time. It’s been sitting idle for years.

No idea what the holdup has been.

Yep. It’s probably two year late but finally opening! It’s a dual brand Ibis/Novotel property with shared facilities. I believe one side of the L is the ibis and the other is Novotel. Hopefully will put push prices down around the airport with more competition. It’s a little bit more of a walk compared to the park royal, but will be good having more options for staying close to the terminal for early morning flights with family.

Is there work down there under cover at least?

If you're coming off a domestic flight, lugging backs that distance would be a little annoying. From international not so bad as you're likely to have a trolley at least.

Also, isn't there already some form of Ibis behind the Park Royal?

Glad this is opening. There's been a few times when I've had an early flight out of MEL and would have preferred to stay at the airport, but the hotels are expensive and not very good.

More or less, I'm guessing the plan is that you access it by walking through the T4 parking complex which would be almost entirely undercover except for a brief road crossing at the end.

There's an Ibis budget but it's way out. I'm not even sure how you get there? I think you need to walk down past T1 and through/behind the servo with the McDonalds.

I've used the Mantra nearby before. Pricing is very reasonable and there's a free shuttle bus. However, it's just one more step that I find annoying, especially if you have an early flight the next day.

Last time I was down that way they didn’t really have an accessible pathway from the New Hotel to the Terminal. There was a path that ran across the road to the cargo side. You the walk the narrow path up to T4.

Not sure if they have made something more accessible for the opening.

The whole road and passenger paths down near T4 is pretty ordinary. All seems su much poorly planned and the end result for what is new infrastructure, is pretty rubbish.

Might check it out on a work trip before I book it for an International trip. Looks a decent hike with bags and probably just as easy to stay at the Parkroyal specially as a GHA Titanium they look after us well
