1st class bucket list

OK so I am all but decided on SYD-DFW purely because it's the longest flight.
Only problem is that I have connect in SYD from MEL and the website will only let me book a 9.30am flight from MEL-SYD with a 1pm departure to DFW which doesn't leave much time in the F lounge does it? For the record, I'm returning in J, not F and therefore the website will only allow me a 9.30am or 10am depature from MEL.
Also, the pics I have looked at on here of the F seats don't look a lot different to the J suites I flew on in EY not long ago.

Great to see a link like this.

as boomy said; book flights ex Europe. Or the AA POINTS deal....

If you can get a one way points trip to anywhere from Australia, the first class fares are a lot cheaper booked from the other end.

If I was looking for one flight to experience First Class I would add another vote for EY.
Even the F suites on the A330s A340s or B777s blow QF's A380 F product (for example) out of the water.
The apartments on the A380 are definitely the best hard product. A whole level above the rest.
I think someone has mentioned SQ suites as the only remotely comparable hard product.
As well as the apartments themselves, EY has similar hard product "extras" to EK on the A380, namely a shower and a bar.
The experience of a shower (or two) at 40,000 feet is amazing.
However I agree with another poster that EK is just too much bling. Too much fake burred walnut with gold trim.
I prefer the subtle luxury of EY - especially the new decor on the A380s.
It fits nicely inbetween the Trumpesque vulgar extravagance of EK and the very basic decor of QF - who I think missed a big chance to make their A380 product special.
The EY crew can be a bit hit and miss in J but I've flown in their F 9 times and they've never missed a beat on one of those flights.
The in flight chefs were obliging, the food was amazing and the service was impeccable.
In particular the quality of the china and glassware, and the attention to complete consistency in placement during the meal service.
I know I sound like an advertising campaign but I can't overstate how much I enjoyed these flights.

All booked. Flying F on QF to DFW. Spend a few days there, then flying AA to Austin and then get the megabus to San Antonio. Flying back to DFW and then back to MEL in J.
I will definitely do a trip report.
10 days in Texas, here I come.
I will also get to try the QF domestic J product on the A330 from MEL-SYD to catch my SYD-DFW flight.
Any idea of whether I will check in my bags all the way through in MEL or in SYD and whether as a full paying F customer, I will get special treatment when I land in SYD to get to the international terminal?

I have a similar situation on a paid ticket in J in a few weeks. QF wouldn't let me book a 6am flight to SYD, so i'm going to rock up at the airport anyway. Hopefully as paid J they let me change (even though it was a sale fare). I reckon if you rocked up earlier, your odds would be good of getting on the 6am service, or possibly a little later, but of course there's no guarantees :(

Bags will be checked all the way through from MEL to DFW, no need to collect in SYD.

On landing in SYD, head for the free bus transfer, you access this before leaving the secure area at SYD (ie, do not head to baggage reclaim).

There is no special service - you should be given a priority express pass for use in SYD (if they don't give you one in MEL you should ask, or else head to the business or first check-in in SYD and get one - it will save a lot of time).

The First Host should call you a day before you fly to lock in a spa time (if you have time).

Hi everyone,

I head off on Tuesday. Should I expect a call from QF on Monday about my spa service even though it's a public holiday?
