15 min connection in MEL scheduled by QF

When travelling MCY-LST QF often through up MCY-SYD then SYD-LST with ~ 40 min gap.
Now getting off 1 JQ flight, wait for your bag, checkin again at SYD then make your flight would be just too much stress.
But the kicker is the same plane flies both legs. But JQ rules being JQ rules you still have to collect your bag and checkin again which is why VA get the business for the flights down.

The system doesnt seem to check MCT when it rebooks you. My mum had 5 minutes to connect from MEL-SYD to SYD-HNL. Clearly impossible and easily fixed over the phone.

I was stung yesterday by the QF97 BNE-HKG retiming for later next year giving me a short transit in BNE from ADL. Yes, easily corrected on the phone and I rerouted through MEL instead affording time for a cheeky glass of something nice in MEL F :)

" Just spit out anything and have them call us. Whatever."

All the Amadeus hosted airlines I regularly use do the same thing. MH and CX have both given me connections that require time travel.

Seems to be how Amadeus does it.

Maybe QF are implementing a new system and they have it perfected, where when you connect you literally disembark flight one, stroll over to your next gate and just as you arrive you hear the boarding call for flight 2... how good would that be.

We had the same with a trip to Hobart from Canberra earlier this year. Our flight from Canberra to Melbourne was cancelled and we were put on a later flight that gave us only 15 minutes change over time in Melbourne - with the next flight being a few hours later. I called and asked them whether they would hold the flight, given we wouldn't have a snow-flake's chance of making it. 'No', was the answer, and they re-booked us on a series of later flights.
I forgot to add, Qantas didn't contact us about it - it popped up in my Tripit alert as "Connection at Risk", an understatement. Although I had booked the flights using Amex for the travel credit - but then Amex didn't realise either until I called them.

Not uncommon for Amex it seems. My next flight booked with the Amex travel credit (ADL-MEL) had its departure pushed back 30 minutes and they called six weeks after the schedule change. I mean, a 30-minute change to a quick domestic hop is not an issue and it wouldn't have bothered me if they hadn't called... but to do it 6 weeks after the change...ah well. At least it was before departure

With priority boarding :D

... Maybe 15 mins can be doable, if the Taswegian flights still arr and dep down there, Pier A of MEL QFd T1.
If the flight to SYD dep at say gate 26, or 25 or 28 then its a run up the escalators and to gates 26/25/28.
**((OR))** has the QFlink Dash 8s gone to T4 now?

... those baggage handlers must be good to move checked bags that quick.

Looks like QF1xx_ is the 717, and QF2xx_ is the Dash8s.
Either call up QF or see if you can do it, OP, and let us know the result. QF1014 and all like flights from HBA seem to arr into MEL QFd T1 gate 4 today, maybe the QF flight to SYD would dep gate 1 its not a far run.

Steady on Pooch - close but no cigar. QF10xx are QF mainline B738 operated flights. QF17xx flights are mostly single class B717 operated flights or QF15xx which are two class.
