Hopefully not stepping on anyone’s toes here but I noticed the AMEX Velocity Escape Card is now (unless i haven't noticed before) offering 15,000 Velocity FF points on signup (after spending $300) using a referral link – double the public offer of 7,500 points.
Velocity Escape particulars:
- $0 annual fee
- 1pt per $ on general spend
- 2pt per $ on spend with Virgin Australia
- Access to Amex connect (cashback offers like the current spend $40 at BP get $10 statement credit up to 3 times etc)
- Local champion (ability to earn an extra pt per $, up to 10,000 bonus points)
- Lower than most reward cards min credit limit of $2000
- Lower than most reward cards $40,000 income requirement
- No limit on points earn
- Token basic purchase insurance
- No additional charge for supplementary cards
Not a bad earning card but where it comes into its own is for utilities, insurance, telecommunication providers and government bodies (including ATO) as you'll earn a full point per $ (whereas most other AMEX issued cards only pay 0.5).
It’s certainly not the best AMEX card on offer but a good deal for $0, also not a bad idea to have a proprietary AMEX issued given the shakeup coming over the next year for bank issued AMEX/Visa companion cards (which is why I hold this card).
