Incremental cost is $114 for J so I would do it for sure.

Enjoy the Neil Perry inspired menu :)

I have had the J food since they became inspired by NP - I wasn't that impressed. I was catering not assured though so maybe didnt get all the possible options...

Voucher being posted today so I should be on my first standalone paid dom J flight soon :)

Any thoughts? I don't need the 60 SCs for requal as I will hit WP comfortably but will be very far off WP PG so it wont make that much difference (although I say that I might be closer than I think...)

So how does $114 sound for 40 or 60 SCs?

Sitting on the other side of the fence, from a SC collection point of view it is pretty good value, but if you don't need the SC then imo it would be a waste of $, esp. of such a short flight. Sure its J class and you will get a better onboard experience but for a 1 or so hour flight, and also you should be seated pretty close to the front as a WP anyway, it wouldn't have made a big difference. Lounge access = same J lounge, Priority access = same.

40/60 SC would add towards LTG but why would anyone want SG status after years of being a WP .... well, that's just me anyway - in about 10years time LOL.

Perhaps because - for most of us anyway - once we're not travelling constantly for work it would be nice to still have *some* status!

I'm not overly keen on dropping back to SG, but LTG is worth having in it's current form. I'm not sure I'll be traveling as much in a couple of years time to be able to maintain WP or maybe even SG.

My fear is a Qantas "Enhancement" that will either reduce the LTG benefits, or make it harder to achieve...or worse even more Neil Perry inspired food.:p

With my current bookings, and current LTG requirements, I will reach LTG in October. I'd be spending the $114 for the status credits. ;)

I ASSURE you there IS LTP!

It will not be obtained by SR's on other OW carriers though.:)

Of course, every 10 SC's is worth 111.1 QFF points due to the "loyalty bonus".

So 160 SC's for J r/t would be worth an additional 1778 QFF points.
Have I missed something? Only 80 SCs for a SYD-MEL return in business.

Please further state criteria for LTP.
As far as I understand it is by invitation only and holders of that status are sworn to secrecy....

The first part is correct John.

The criteria STARTS with 28000 SC's on QF metal.

Which makes sense as Platinum is twice as many SC’s as Gold, so LTP would be twice as many as LTG, but it’s not very fair if Qantas doesn’t show you SC earn just for QF flights :( Sort of makes the calculation difficult for most.

At least Lifetime Gold includes all SCs earned.

How about 2,800 discount economy SYD-BNE/MEL flights? Now that would be some achievement and worthy of a lot more than Lifetime Platinum.

How about a Deathstar HalfClass fare for $324? Dates and times the limiting factor. You/your boss make/saves a few bucks! And of course you have to suffer the SYD FCL

I have little doubt Simon considered that - I thought about that possibility as well.

Then I realised that in all likelihood the voucher was not redeemable for JQ flights.
