Article: How to Improve Airport Security Queues

I just cleared security at WAW through the Fast Track lane. There were no signs at all with instructions of what to remove from bags etc., and no security staff at the unpacking point to ask. So, I figured it wasn't necessary to remove my laptop and sent my bag through.

Walked through the scanner, my bag went through and - surprise, surprise - I got told off for not removing my laptop from the bag.

I politely told the security staff that there were no signs and nobody to ask. He told me that, since this was the business class line, they assume that everyone is a frequent traveller and already knows the rules - so no need for signs. I told him that even frequent travellers may not know the rules because every airport has different rules. He didn't seem to understand this concept and just told me "well it's always been this way in Warsaw". 🤷‍♂️

The lack of signs allows them to make it up as they go. Some enjoy the power trip.

The 3D scanners can’t be rolled out fast enough.

Having said that, this morning at SYD T1 before 5am, they were scanning painfully slowly for all 4 of us… Hate to think what it could be like at peak hour(s)….

Thought this morng at Syd was organised, slow but organised. Signage above the counter was clear, nobody appeared to be in need of personal instruction so for once no shouting!
