Seems to me that JQ are have trouble filling their

Class.

These voucher + Special Sales. These are the same prices as the original

Class "Promotional" fares back in July.

Since I cant get QF website to work maybe I should switch to JQ?

Just jumped on the JQ website to see how much cheaper the JQ product really is. Rtn trip in *class to coughet (random destination selected) was about $1500 - which is very similar price wise to my WT+ ticket to Bangkok.... does that say something about the product?

Basically it's the same as QF domestic business class, so it's better than WT+, but not by that much (I think it's a similar seat pitch, and a slightly wider seat than WT+). The other advantage of *class is getting Business Class FF points and SC's, rather than the Full Economy SC's and 10% bonus on FF points with WT+. In the end I think comparing Star Class and WT+ is a reasonably valid comparison though.

Just wondering if I should booked SYD-coughet in Star Class rather than SYD-BKK in WT+

I guess the SCs are no a drama for me now (AAdvantage).

I guess it depends on whether your final destination is BKK or HKT (though flights between the two cities are pretty cheap, with plenty of LCC competition). Keep in mind that flying JQ only accrues you miles on the Qantas Frequent Flyer program, so if you've switched over to AAdvantage it's probably not going to be a good choice for you if miles matter at all.

You will earn AAdvantage miles and qpoints on BA WT+, but will not earn any AAdvantage miles or qpoints on Jetstar Star Class.

Yup. JQ is not OW. Which is why I would expect more and more angst from non-QFF OW FFers about the JQisation of QF.

Wonder if the other OW airlines will pressure QF to make JQ part of OW? It is one thing to have just a handful of routes on a non-alliance subsidiary (like Freedom Air), quite another to hand over major portions of your route network (JQ in future).

Regardless of being able to earn FF points and business class SC's with QFF, I think the JQ product is aimed at the wrong market.

I looked at the SYD/MEL-BKK flights with JQ and it was closer to $2000. Leisure travellers would not pay that sort of money for a few extra inches of leg space and it will not attarct true business class travellers as these people want all the perks that come with business class like skybeds and better quality service.

I think somewhere along the way QF is going to be in hot water with OneWorld as most routes are pushed across to JQ.

Perhaps it will hit the fan once the OW chairman's position changes? ;) (Nicely timed BTW.)

Hmm ... it's an interesting concept, sort of like Qantas WT+ by stealth.

ATM, you can book return J MEL/BKK for $3000 (EK), $3750 (TG), $4700 QF/BA.

Apart from that, with this sale two carefully booked itineries per year can attain SG (4 for WP). There are more cost effective ways however, these would take the least time. (e.g. 360SC for $2020)

We have had this comparison before and there is no doubt that as a SC run it would be of good benefit to some QFF'ers.

How many QFF members, as a percentage, chase FF points and/or SC's. My guess would be a very small percentage. When I tell friends I am flying SYD-BKK via PER and SIN they think I have lost my sanity. They all just want to get from A to B in the quickest possible way with the least amount outlayed.

I did mention it would be very time efficient when compared with other ways. This 360 SC's can be earned in 3 days (e.g. Sun, Mon & Tue). If you wished to spend a week in Thailand you can Depart on the Sunday and return Monday week.

My post was probably too confusing, as usual! I agree with you that it is a good SC run for people that chase SC's and are constrained by time.
