i read point 8... seems proof reading is out the window again.

copied here for ease of reference:

8. Judging will take place between 26 June 2014 and 3 July 2014 at 10 Bourke Road, Mascot, Sydney NSW and will be conducted by the Promoter. Entries will be judged by a panel of judges picked from the Qantas Frequent Flyer member base and they will be judged based on being the most meaningful or impactful (making the biggest change in someone life).

... expanded a bit more from the Qantas announcement (but obviously not part of the official T&Cs):

Entries will be judged by a panel of the program’s most loyal members, including members who have been flying at the top tier Platinum One level since the introduction of tiered levels and other members who have earned points in every possible category.
(my bolding)

Again, nit picking on what is a good promotion is somewhat ungracious, but, well, you may call it as you see it ...

When were tiered levels introduced? Many years ago, I believe? When was Platinum 1 level introduced? Just a few years ago, I think. So who has had Plat 1 status since tier levels were introduced, I wonder??

I'm assuming that because the judging panel consists of the program's "most loyal members", that rules me out of contention. :(

Further, as MEL_Traveller points out, there is another basic mistake of grammar in point 8 of the T&Cs. Is it so difficult to employ some-one with (what used to be) basic high school literacy to proof read this stuff, Red Roo?

RooFlyer, tell me - is there anything that QF can do that you will not criticise?

As I've nominated another person who'll have a changed life, I kinda like the idea that the 10th million will go to the person with a changed life. Makes sense since I gather I'll get the point in the hypothetical case that I was judged the best entry but that may not change the life of the other person. Except in my case it would as if give them the use of the million points. But anyway.....

It does say flying at the platinum one level, as opposed to being a platinum one. Plenty of people could have been flying at the level of 3600/2700 SC per year since tiers were introduced.

Perhaps we also need a prize for the person who has written in the grammar thread here to show ability and could 'volunteer' for a small fee to proof read outgoing messages from QF. No need to advertise.

I could fit that in ... ;)

I don't expect to win at all. But I did give an honest answer to the question. Albeit somewhat cliche and boring. This is the reason I'm not bothering to read terms and conditions.

I almost offered my proof reading skills during the lunch with Lesley.

Nothing that I feel warrants it. But if you (laboriously) read the various threads, you'll find regular praise from me for the QF J domestic product; praise and much respect also for QF pilots (in particular) and on-board staff (in general). In the air I'm usually quite happy.

Much of the Qantas-related discussion on these forums, and my criticism has been on QFF (its regular negative changes), Qantas Loyalty (and their interaction with QFF members) and the Qantas web site & communications (can't spell or write effectively).

I'll call tripe when tripe is served and can only apologise if that doesn't suit.

[Narrows eyes and re-reads ....] Ok, I'll grant you that, thanks again.

And I've re-read it to notice the bit before platinum one level, which implies they were platinum one. Open to interpretation is the best I can say.

Well, one of us needs to delete our posts before anyone notices - we couldn't possibly agree :)

I see QF has posted a link to the winning stories on FB. As anticipated, all are worthy recipients, almost all having a story of family members with debilitating or life threatening conditions. Glad I didn't enter.
Wonder if any AFFers won?

not here:(

Well I didn't win. And after reading all the winners stories, they are well deserved winners and the points and opportunities to travel will be a wonderful experience for them and their families.

Does the prize include fuel surcharges? (or can those otherwise be covered with points+pay etc?)

I received the email, but as usual glanced over it and deleted when I saw "tell us xx_ words. Then my interest was roused, when I happened across the thread today. Now that I have read the winners' stories, I am pleased that the points have gone to worthy winners. Although I'm sure there are many other worthy folk who missed out.
