10 great airports

I know I'll be howled down for this but I love BKK. I think the curved glass and steel design is really cool and unique.

Yeah SIN is clean and modern and organised but I find the layout a bit confusing and it reminds me of a big casino.

I've come back from Europe recently and really like ARN. It's very simple, functional and logical.

I was absolutely blown away by BCN though - that polished black marble flooring looks incredible.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Apart from the usual answers I'd add San Diego . Not because of the airport, just because it is so close to downtown. Plenty of diversions with easy access.

I agree, I love BKK but don't fancy SIN at all, I find SIN looks too much like a 70's casino and hate to drag my carry on through the carpet

I find SIN very dated too! I also don't like the carpet!

LAS.

Im either just about to have fun or I have just had fun. Either way I dont care :)

Seriously though, Arlanda, Hong Kong and of course (oz-mark will agree), Harbin. The pad down was spectacular ;)

I like SIN to get lots of walking prior to flights. Regular and frequent rides between T2 and T3. Somewhat like casino with those carpets, high ceilings, but absolutely clean and orderly, lots of wide spaces unlike SYD where you meander around shops, table and chairs and people.

USM......pure simplicity.

For a more contemporary selection - T5 LHR.

SFO and SLC in that case

Can't comment on SLC, but in terms of proximity to downtown SFO doesn't come close. SAN is about 3.5-4 km and all of 5-10 mins in public bus from downtown. Going to downtown is like going from intl to Dom at SYD.

I think HKG is the best airport by far!
In the US I like DEN and DFW more than SFO or PHX.
I was surprised to see YVR on the list. I never considered YVR a great airport, I guess it's because when flying on CX HKG-YVR-JFK one has to clear Canadian immigration, collect bag and go through US immigration in a short amount of time. Not a very relaxing process... I wish one day Canada will let PAX transit internationally without clearing Canadian immigration...

By all means enjoy Singapore airport, but remember to get your duty free booze well before your flight.

I was there early and went for a walk around the whole T2 and thought I would get my duty free just before boarding to save me carrying it but aparently you have to buy 90 mins before departure.

Not sure if you can buy and then collect later.

Guess it depends how you get into town, DEN was an ok airport but the bus ride in was like $11 or so and it was a bit out of town... Now that might be chump change for some who just jump straight into taxis... ORD i found prettye asy to get to, just a few bucks ont he train that took you straight there... MIA wouldn't be so bad althought the wait in security lines can be quite long...

But the ability to jump on a train quickly and cheaply and take you straight into and out of the airport appeals to me...

Having just left the Netherlands after 2 years I really am a big fan of AMS. At the moment they are building a walkway from the carpark to the departure gates. If you check-in online and only have hand luggage you will be able to walk directly from your car to the gate. That will be awesome!

It is actually 75 mins cut off - but anytime prior to that and you collect at gate on boarding.

And it is 75mins and not 74mins as the 2 very disgruntled pommie pax behind me in line at T3 DFS last Sun evening - did they throw a hissy fit when I was ok'd for SQ227 and they were knocked back for SQ227 like 30secs later.

Sales Assistant did announce to all in DFS that I was last to catch SQ227 - you guys ever seen a coupla whinging poms in full cry?

Yes as I found out last Saturday night - it used to be 60mins until recently so I thought I was OK. But apparently only applies to AU and US flights - for other destinations u can purchase and carry to gate in sealed bag.

One of my mates has said I've become a shrill for how often I say how great DFW is.

I don't mind AA connections through there at all.

i have to admit in all the times I've been to SIN I've never done all those 'exciting and different' things that are so heavily advertised. Sorry but two hour connections mean a quick shower and snack in the lounge. I wouldn't even know where to look to begin with for those cinemas or butterfly garden!!!! Lol
