SAS has launched an utterly unique promotion, celebrating it's entry into Skyteam - they're offering bonus miles for each Skyteam airline you fly, as the following:
  • Fly five different SkyTeam airlines, earn 10,000 SAS EuroBonus bonus points
  • Fly 10 different SkyTeam airlines, earn 100,000 SAS EuroBonus bonus points
  • Fly 15 different SkyTeam airlines, earn 1,000,000 SAS EuroBonus bonus points
Yep, if you do it in the most efficient way possible, that's 66,666.66.... Eurobonus points per flight guaranteed (assuming you complete the challenge of course)

You have to register through the app and can only have your EuroBonus number on the booking. Award bookings booked via EuroBonus count - basically, there has to be EuroBonus account activity with 15 different airlines in Skyteam. Note that ITA and MEA aren't counted, so it's 15 of a possible 17 Skyteam airlines.

EuroBonus itself isn't the most compelling program out there, but there's solid value in some cases i.e 130,000 EuroBonus miles for SYD-ICN return on Korean (it'd be 78k for a one-way). I'd back that you can get around 1-2c per point in value with relative ease.

What crazy dumb routings exist... ;)

This sounds like a good promotion. Keen to know if anyone has worked out the best/cheapest runs for this promo yet pls? :)

Already an extensive thread on Flyertalk with different starting positions, timings and routings. I think someone managed €3000, all economy class. And like 15 separate tickets. So need to add in hotel costs.

China being visa free has certainly helped as there are two PRC and one taiwan carrier? So you can do a bit of a dog leg getting three carrier out of the way.

Don’t rule out fifth freedom flights either. MU and CI both fly AU to AKL so you could knock those two over cheaply with a short trip to AKL
I’ve seriously had a look at this promotion and could make it work but getting leave off between now and the end of the year is more problematic

True! But i think the calculations for the CI and MU flights were really cheap, like less than €100, for travel intra asia. Would be hard going to get that sort of pricing trans tasman.

I'm definitely considering this!

I'm considering going rtw with Sky Team to do the 15 Airlines required - also looking at getting the Vietnam status match to get lotus elite so I can crash the sky team lounges while doing it. Anyone else have plans? ChatGpt been extra helpful planning an itinerary.

Just a basic start-
Asia & Middle East (5 carriers):

1. Brisbane to Hong Kong – China Airlines
2. Hong Kong to Bangkok – XiamenAir (5th freedom)
3. Bangkok to Guangzhou – Kenya Airways (5th freedom)
4. Guangzhou to Jeddah – Saudia
5. Jeddah to London – Vietnam Airlines

Europe (5 carriers):

6. London to Paris – Virgin Atlantic
7. Paris to Amsterdam – Air France
8. Amsterdam to Bucharest – KLM
9. Bucharest to Madrid – TAROM
10. Madrid to Copenhagen – Air Europa

Americas (5 carriers):

11. Copenhagen to New York – SAS
12. New York to Mexico City – Delta Air Lines
13. Mexico City to São Paulo – Aeromexico
14. São Paulo to Lima – TAP Air Portugal (5th freedom via Star Alliance, optional swap if needed)
15. Lima to Los Angeles – Delta Air Lines

Final Leg:

16. Los Angeles to Brisbane – Virgin Atlantic

SkyTeam can be real sticklers for only allowing lounge access if the correct FFP is attached to the booking so just make sure you put your SAS Eurobonus number on after entering the lounge if possible

China eastern should be in play here especially domestic. Prettying sure VN doesn't fly JED - LHR.
It'd probably be cheaper to fly around asia on VN too before using Saudia to LHR the whole way.

VS also doesn't fly from LAX to BNE.

Just a few problems with this.

Anyone wanting to break into the whole travel blogger space could definitely consider this - plenty of content to be made along the way... I have a friend who just got a redundancy - I might suggest it!

Smashed avo and a roof over your head is sooo over-rated for the unemployed when a bonus points deal is on offer! 😂

Yeah few kinks - what I'm demonstrating is a start for anyone to consider (then begin the fine tuning). I'm just going to get a reward seat back from the states (Qantas or velocity points) once fully qualified from LA. AI isn't perfect yet, but it saves so much time and effort, once I work out my flight plans and dates, I'll then ask it to hit me up with daily itineraries and things to do at each stopover!

Well, I don't know if this is gonna help anyone, but this is something I've cooked up that includes flights on 15 different SkyTeam airlines. There's obviously a few non-Skyteam flights in there, but IMO it turns out cheaper than if you only use Skyteam - this itinerary is definitely not for the faint-hearted (it'd be HLO for sure!). Of course, it would be much easier if you could put the flights all on one ticket, so that I didn't need to leave such lengthy layovers.

Total: $5484 (not including accom, but is including the non-Skyteam positioning flights/train)

CI53 BNE-AKL 21 NOV $380
MU712 AKL-SYD 22 NOV $226
GA715 SYD-DPS 23 NOV $499
KL836 DPS-SIN 23 NOV $94
VN650 SIN-SGN 24 NOV $175
MF842/MF8827 SGN-XMN-ZUH 25 NOV $155
Surface sector from ZUH-CAN (~$20) by train
KQ887 CAN-BKK 26 NOV $198
SV845 BKK-JED 27 NOV $717
VF190 (AJET) JED-SAW 28 NOV $118
RO264 IST-OTP 28 NOV $155
FR9161 OTP-BVA 29 NOV $54
AF1180/VS25 CDG-LHR-JFK 29 NOV $798 (rt ticket)
DL5839/DL224 JFK-BOS-CDG 2 DEC ^^
SK836/SK4743 CDG-OSL-BRU 3/4 DEC $155
UX1174 BRU-MAD 4 DEC $147
FR5508 MAD-CDG 5 DEC $154
KE902/KE401 CDG-ICN-SYD 5 DEC $1439

Obviously not the most ideal itinerary possible (to/from Australia is obviously not the most efficient), but even if you spent 2.5k on accom I think you'd still be able to get double the value from the Eurobonus points - plus doesn't it seem like so much fun?

Happy to hear adjustments as well - or maybe this could be a challenge for those who show up at the AFF gathering - design the lowest-cost itinerary that fulfils the Eurobonus challenge ;)

Or LHR-CDG
True. But there are other options ..AF direct or KLM via AMS...I think once upon time....in early days...they actually flew a Viscount between LGW and CDG.....however that might have been British Caledonian ...,🤭

Here i was pricing all J sectors and short stopovers, approaching $25k 😬
See my thoughts were going to The Guide to Sleeping in Airports and figuring out which airports I would be forced to pay for accom :P

Ah well, its all theoretical, of course. I certainly wouldn't envy the person sitting next to me on those final KE legs, having just spent the last 2 weeks living out of airports and a carry-on backpack!
