They must be wanting to divest of the points liability. I wonder what is up!

My thought exactly. Reducing the liability for the points on the balance sheet is more important than a revenue booking, probably for the normal P+P transaction. Speeds up the transaction time taken per booking. Win/win

Though to be fair QF have pushed points+pay quite a bit over the last few years, but this is a new level for sure.

I also wonder if this is related to all the CC churners, sign up bonuses and the like. We have not seen a big double or triple POINTS promo for a couple of years IIRC - they used to be more common than DSC promos.

Interestingly I have not had this offer(not that I really care)

More than likely when they see the liability hit a certain $ ceiling, out come Marketing and Comms to help with a promo/competition.

We have not seen a big double or triple POINTS promo for a couple of years IIRC - they used to be more common than DSC promos.

Points Plus Pay is such shockingly bad value for points, they had to sweeten it somehow?

I just checked a few flights and the value was poor- about 0.7 cents a point (after allowing for points earn) . Sure, you'll earn back some points and status credits but even ordinary classic awards can be worth double or triple that value per point.

That was for some domestic Y fares, anyhow...

IMHO, 1 million points would be well less than 0.1% of QFF’s balance. This is not a financial exercise, just another marketing promo to make members aware of P+P.

Ah, I think the point is to get people to spend their points. And many more than the prize that is offered.

Agreed, but this is AFF and we’re the upper echelon of society with lotsa DYKWIAs and Know It All’s. Frankly, we’re better than the rest of society and you know it So we oughta know better than to spend our points on something akin to winning the lotto.

Well yes, that’s very true except they don’t seem to know who QFWP is (is that - TDKWQFWPI) because he’s the only one who got the offer. AND he also registered

Oh yes, I registered but won’t have any points to spend on making bookings using P+P. They are used for upgrades.

I want them to *think* I’m interested. I have a DSC offer which is significantly better than a P+P one
