“new” QF B737-800s

VH-XZQ positioned BNE-TSV (edited) on Sunday reportedly for paint. So back to one white tail in service for now.

Report in airliners.net that VH-XZQ will return tomorrow after only 5 days in TSV.

Obviously quite quick to apply the QF livery to an already white aircraft.

XZQ back in BNE and named "Airlie Beach" in line with secondary airports/towns for most 737s.

Being replaced in TSV by 2007 liveried XZH so presumably XZR will continue to fly in white for a little while.

Got to fly on VH-XZR on a rather empty QF545. Did not manage to get any pictures of the business class cabin but a stock standard J seat and the Y seat offered decent padding and adjustable head rest.

Received a text message about 24 hours beforehand letting us know there was no wifi or Qantas Entertainment app. The aircraft had a curtain between J and Y which closed during the flight. Row 5 is the new Row 4 but due to a floor to ceiling bulkhead doesn't offer as much legroom as you may be accustomed to on a QF 737.

Pleasant flight and the crew went up and beyond for the handful of pax on the plane.

VH-XZS with a test flight Sat so presumably due to enter service soon
(Possibly one of XZR/XZS might replace XZH at the TSV paint shop so it will still be two of these odd balls in service)

Final aircraft VH-XZT into service today.
So that makes 79 737-800s in service
(76 in QF livery, and 75 with Wifi).

Reported that VH-XZR will likely go to TSV this week for paint.

VH-XZT ventured outside it's stated BNE routings today operating QF453 SYD- MEL, and is now scheduled on QF628 MEL-BNE.

VH-XZR and VH-XZS swapped at the TSV paintshop today via QF868 and QF869.

Leaves VH-XZT as the only white ghost.

Alerted by a 'we had to change your seat' email I see that we've been shunted onto one of these odd birds (which until today I never knew existed) for our OOL-SYD flight in January next year.

Clearly there's no great urgency in their plans to refit this sub-fleet...

No Economy Plus is irritating. As is moving all our seats around... you'd think they could just push everyone back by one row number given there is no row 4, but instead the computer seems has completely changed all our seat assignments. That said, it's a short flight so not the biggest deal.

Is there a chance that these get reconfigured between now and then?
