    Noise Cancelling headphones

Mmm we seem to be be back to debating the merits of in ear plugs to true N/C headphones. I suppose it gets down to personal preference, I'd prefer not to have something stuck inside my head for 13 hrs which I had to pull out when somebody wanted to speak with me. My guess is that's why the Bose...

    Noise Cancelling headphones

You too miss the function of noise cancelling. I have no doubt for the money you can buy better sounding headphones but that is not the main reason FF's buy them.

    Noise Cancelling headphones

I couldn't believe how good the service is. I paid US$299 for my original pair and my new ones are brand spanking new (new S model)......... Bose must have 90% of the flying N/C market, they're certainly not cheap but you know the saying "you get what you pay for". A lot of people confuse the...

    Noise Cancelling headphones

My 9yr old son jumped on my much loved and used 2yr old QCII's (500k miles) this week and busted them badly. I took them out to Bose today to see if they could fix them as I'm flying to the US next week. The service manager Bob gave me a brand new pair of the new QCIIS's (A$599?)!!!! For...

    Australian UGS

    It's all UA metal/tickets, approximately B/H 57K, balance in V/W.

    Australian UGS

I'm going to finish this year (joined UA in Feb) with 220K BIS miles UA metal/ticketed) all in W class or better (B class being the highest). This wouldn't be sufficient to get UGS in the US but it may be in Australia hence my search for Aussie UGS's.

    Australian UGS

Thanks for the response but I'm looking for an Australian UGS that qualified to give me what idea of their UA travels that initially qualified them. I appreciate that it may differ from a US UGS which is what I'm interested in. I've seen the EF thread on requalification but that's not really...

    I want my seat back:(

UA appears not to be flying to MEL anymore so they have subsituted a DJ flight MEL-SYD which I think caused you to lose your seat. The good news is that 17A is still available SYD-LAX but even better is 15A. Why not ring the US number?

    Hertz #1 Club

My last 2 rentals with Hertz in SYD were $29p/day both dropping off at a different location to pick up. That rate the free upgrades and the easy pick up will keep me with Hertz. Maybe you need to change the CDP code your using (don't use the QF code).

    Emirates faces turbulence from Truss

I think a lot of the loyalty that is being shown here to QF is not warranted. QF is 49.4% owned by overseas interests and is lobbying the Australian Govt to allow this to be increased. QF now sources staff overseas and has announced plans to service aircraft overseas (so much for Australian...

US or Australian address for MP?

I joined UA in Feb and I'm 2 months away from making 1K. I have a residence in both the US and Australia. Is there any advantages to being an Australian MP member? I'll finish the year with 160 - 180K BIS miles mostly W and H class. TIA Mark

    Dream trip US trip

I was on the last of my 3 T class A$1179+ tickets travelling CHO-IAD-LAX-SYD on Monday. I'm 1P from a AA status match in Feb. On checkin at CHO I was offerred a C upgrade for LAX-SYD at US$750 (UA839 was 4 seats overbooked), I knocked it back and decided to tough it out in 40A in E+. My IAD-LAX...

    One for the immigration experts?

I've been making multiple trips to the US (6 - 8 per annum) for the past 2 years staying in the US for 2 - 6 weeks each time using a green I 94 visa waiver. I'm not working (young retiree at 48yrs of age) and have Australian citizenship. Last time I entered the US, 3 weeks ago, the...

    My cheap US/Australia J travel

I have been a frequent flyer from Australia to the east coast of the US for 2 years, averaging 8 paid (personally) SYD - IAD return trips per annum. Initially I posted my trips to QF however it became apparent to me that, given I was flying in Y, the highest status I could aspire to on QF...
