Cathay serve wine to 3yr old.

As Loyalty Lobby noted - if it were in the USA there would be a law suit and/or a huge settlement. They said, probably correctly, in most other places (UK, Aust etc) it would be acknowledged as a mistake and no real harm done. Public statements would be made that processes will be reviewed to...

AMP Bank Everyday Account - earns Qantas Points

Interest is taxable and if banks start replacing interest earn with points as "interest in kind" it will only be a matter of time before the ATO starts looking at the need to recover the lost tax revenue, provided it is sufficiently significant to make the effort. They might then start looking...

    Hotel Chains Ditching Mini Toiletries

I noticed this during the week on my future booking for the Regal Airport Hotel in HKG. It appears the law is prohibiting disposable plastic toiletries: Friendly Reminder New Regulation on Disposable Plastic Products As part of Regal’s initiative on sustainability, we strive to minimize the...

    Qantas Delays/Cancellations

Translation: “It was the first time in my life that I went to Sydney, Australia and took Qantas I thought such a big airline would be more secure However, tonight (18/4) was scheduled to take off at 7:30 and board the plane at 7:00 On the plane said delay half an hour and half an hour and half...

Was anything decided about Friday 11th ? To assist - Royal Exhibition Hotel in Surry Hills right outside Central station, is a reasonable value pub where the food is not bad.

Annual NZ Dinner: WLG 7 March 2026

Like this year (2025) I will, at this stage, plan to be there in 2026. However, given Qantas cannot be relied on to honour my booking (bundle of rights) when I plan to travel, I will eventually book everything with my fingers crossed that they will not be cancelled 7 months after making the...

    Scams like these

I have received several Docusign emails all related to my non-existent PayPal account. The first impression is they might be genuine (from previous experience) but there are several features that give them away - particularly when you do not use PayPal.

Things Qantas Does & Doesn't Do Well

It always amazes me that free to air TV has Qantas (and some times Virgin) sales as "news" items on their morning and evening news bulletins, with examples of how much customers will pay. How is that news ? More likely part of the broadcaster's "contra" contribution.

Things Qantas Does & Doesn't Do Well

Having a look at https://www.australianfrequentflyer.com.au/community/threads/qantas-delays-cancellations.52193/ confirms that QF does not do reliability (or recovery) well. It used to be allow an extra day for delays and cancellations but now it is 2 or 3 days - to be safe. QF's combative...

    Sydney Meetup/Dinner Saturday 12 April 2025 19:30 @ The Winery

My comment was on the basis that if the outdoor area was a preference, but on the day it is raining, the veranda would be the best option. Daylight saving will have finished but potentially still pleasant outside. Noisy inside.

    Sydney Meetup/Dinner Saturday 12 April 2025 19:30 @ The Winery

I walked past The Winery this morning in the Sydney rain. As long as the reservation is on the veranda it should be OK for wet or dry weather. Otherwise lots of outside tables that were totally unsuitable in the rain. All I know about Chin Chin is it gets very busy.

The definitive thread on Qantas IT gripes

The staff member did take a photo of the screen as was not sure how to do a screen shot. Even as a Bronze they knew to not trust anything QF says on a screen and retain evidence of the QF system message.

The definitive thread on Qantas IT gripes

Had a staff member register for DSC (with my encouragement) as they will travel enough to move them to Silver. No big deal but better than being Nobody. They did the registration on-line three times and three times it said "Congratulations you are registered and will shorty receive a...

Senate Inquiry on Pay on delay

QF operate in or from locations that are already subject to UK/EU 261 and in countries such as Philippines and Canada that have compulsory requirements to protect pax when flights are delayed or cancelled. They do not make a big deal about their fares being inflated because of the compensation...

Qantas double status credits: Register & book between 12-18 March 2025

Same here. My usual QFi destinations had J price increases as much as $1500 above what I normally have paid without there being DSC. I will watch to see if now the DSC are finished will the prices reduce. During the DSC promo, doing a price comparison in J with CX to similar destinations on the...
