    Oman Air booking issues

Well, that's good business. Obviously Aussies are prepared to pay these "taxes". But not me. Another thing to note with WY, changing planes in MCT can be somewhat of a hassle. WY may be fine in the air, but not so much on the ground. Their boarding "process" is virtually non existent (from...

Tight Virgin Australia Domestic Connection to International Flight

I think they may get less so in the not too distant future.

Virgin Australia Business Class - Meals, Menus & Service

Well yes, depending on how discerning you are. Personally I find most if not all the stuff on IFE is not what I want to watch, so I don't bother with it. I'm quite happy to "cook" my laptop for 6+ hours, even without available onboard power (that's a bonus). I enjoy being able to watch a whole...

How to Use Up Qantas Points? Obviously not on flights

Well not quite the case in my opinion. As has been mentioned above, Qantas points are very valuable in securing business class seats to/from SE Asia (eg Manila, Jakarta) where one can avail oneself of a cheap but classy J flight to Europe (eg EY, EK, TK, etc). In this way you can indeed get a...

    AirAsiaX Delays/Cancellations

That's Air Asia for you. Gone to the dogs (more) since Covid. In fact they weren't far from the pooches before Covid. An 8 hour delay out of OOL cost me dearly. But that's another story.

I guess you also missed FCO then.

    Skiplagging on VA

Just don't put your FF No in the booking if you skiplag (or you might have some blowback).

Virgin Australia UpgradeMe pricing and success

I usually get $65 ex CBR, but always decline, as it's a short flight and I'm in row 3 or 4. I can live without a rushed meal and a drink for an hour or two, especially I can have them before and after in the lounge, if I wish. But otherwise, I can see the value for non-status pax.

Free upgrade to Economy X (I stole someone's seat)

My wife, a VA nobody (but UA Plat), unfortunately selected a seat near the rear door when booking the flight, as she expected to be able to enter and exit via the rear stairs. However, she then had knee surgery and was unable to climb multipe steps, so wanted to change to a seat nearer the...

    General Virgin Australia Lounge Discussion

Because they're in the geat minority. Be thankful there's at least one drink for them.

    Airfares to US to drop?

Perhaps you've missed the point that potential visitors might be put off travelling to the US by the (reported) antics of CBP, and thus leave flights less full than airlines might have projected? I know that I (and my extended family) would not dream of flying to the USA at the moment, even to...

Overnight Layover in HK flying Cathay Business

I dislike the barn of a place that it is (no class whatsoever, oh, sorry). Similar to Singapore. I'll happily go to the CX lounges or, if in Singapore, the BA or QR lounge.

Will you still earn/retain Velocity status beyond 2025?

Wrong. I'll take free pour Suntory whiskey over the VA lounge fare anyday. And the JAL crackers aren't too bad either... And, believe it or not, the JAL lounges are nicer than the ANA lounges. Same whiskey, but less "food".

Do Accor hotels generally store your luggage for one or more days between stays?

I think the answer is that there are Accor hotels and Accor hotels. Just don't expect consistency.

Solar Panel, Power & Battery Discussion

As a pensioner, I've looked at the cost of solar and batteries and have decided it's not for me (at the moment). However, my son has the works. I'm finding it hard to see that I'd be better off with solar in my lifetime (whatever that might be) rather than continuing to pay the lowest standard...

    Western Sydney Airport (WSI) Discussion

Quite so, and that's how it'll be for quite some time. And, as for Hoxton Park, don't you remember that there used to be an airfield there? I lived quite close to it for a while. Admittedly, things have moved on a bit since then.... Which Prime Minister can we thank for the joy of having...

Overview of lifetime airline status tiers & requirements

I was under the impression that NZ was an established Star Alliance member. Perhaps I was mistaken. However, I achieved lifetime *G through United Mileage Plus, racking up over 2,500,00 paid miles. Flying was fun then (pre 7/11). Not so much now (but it can still have its highlights).

Overnight Layover in HK flying Cathay Business

But, really, you'd have to be quite desperate to go in there (it's not all that great). And have you seen the queues to get in?
