Qantas to Launch SYD-AKL-JFK (June 2023)

One issue with jfk-akl in that direction is delays at jfk can be lengthy (moreover than flights from mel, per, akl, etc). I'm sure a number of us have had 60+ min taxis out to runway at jfk.

    Emirates A380 returns on SYD-CHC

No EK lounge in CHC. EK, like QF, uses Manaia lounge (a contract lounge) that anyone can access on payment of a fee.

    Qantas Delays/Cancellations

Fog has cleared. My flight will be more than 2 hours late departing. While the a/c has been available the cabin crew were on a diverted flight and arrived into syd nearly 3 hours late.

    A flight a day ...

There is a 2nd transit security at HKG further along the pier. I've used it many times.

    Qantas Delays/Cancellations

Lots of diversions to cbr, and some bne. More FLounge time for me. Fog isn't too bad - flights are still landing at a reduced rate. Pity poor 402 pax this am. Very late leaving Mel. Long hold before diverting to cbr. Still not yet at destination.

Rimowa Cabin Luggage on Qantas First

There might be an issue with width in row 1 of A380. The overhead bins are not as deep and taper a bit. My much smaller Rimowa fits fine but is noticeably less spare room than other bins.

Article: What to Expect Flying QF1 from Sydney to London via Singapore

Depends on which gate you get. Sometimes midway down the D pier. Other times at the end of C pier. If one of the first off the a/c there should always be time for a quick lounge visit. A late arrival into SIN will always mean a late departure as well.

Airport Transfer - what constitutes too little time?

If it is on a single ticket then no problem. HEL is a small airport. Depending on which countries you are travelling to and from you may need to clear immigration. If on a separate tickets it should be doable but isn't riskless. The airline won't be obliged to rebook you if you misconnect.

    General Medical issues thread

In NZ we can generally get 3 months worth of prescription medicines. Chemist is apologetic when they only have 1 or 2 months worth available. As for major shortages there have been times during covid lockdowns when there were issues as not enough supply coming into the country.

What's the most obscure airport you've visited?

I've been to some airports mentioned in this thread. I expect others have also flown to my most obscure airports. NZOX for domestic, EBL for international.

What's the most obscure airport you've visited?

I like the ICAO code for Niue is NIUE (IATA code is IUE). Not that obscure but perhaps unique?
