Onboard 2nd flight - delayed of course.

Cancelled flights & waivers due to Cyclone Alfred

I wouldn't focus too much on forecast path ar that level of resolution, as there remains a lot of uncertainty. The entire shaded area on bom map is where the centre may pass. We've seen in the past 24 hours Alfred isn't exactly coming straight in - lots of wobbles.

Annual NZ Dinner: AKL 8 March 2025

On Saturday morning I'll be doing parkrun and a run followed by brunch somewhere (likely miss the included breakfast at hotel). Fortunately my flights to and from bne are on the way back from akl, not on the way to akl.

NZTD is required for everyone including NZers. It's the arrival form rather than visa.

Article: Qantas Auckland Lounge Upgrade: The End of an Era

That's harsh. I'm sure there will be a sign put up "new lounge coming soon" which surely counts as starting the work.

Case Study: How Matt Retained Qantas Platinum in 2025

I'll retain platinum for the next member year by virtue of obtaining lifetime platinum last year. If qff are nice maybe they'll keep me at P1 for one more year but not counting on it.

Australian man uses Auckland Airport as start and finish point for a world record attempt

Many years ago I flew NZ akl-lax-lhr-hkg-akl with side trip to Belfast in under 60 hours. Not antipodal points but further distance. https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/trip-reports/692401-around-world-under-60-hours.html

    Is 'bussing' common?

Bus gate is very common at syd early am, especially flights to and from nz. Syd intl I've had more flights to or from remote stand than to or from a regular gate. Gate 26 socks.

    Qantas Platinum One experiences?

I think I've had maybe 2 invites to boring events in a different city (and expected to get my own flights + accomm to attend).

Qantas surveying members about spend-based status attainment

Interesting thread. I haven't seen any mention of the NZ program, for which status is heavily revenue based (and also has the problem for us of a captive market/limited real competition especially domestic). NZ isn't a pure revenue status model but a lot closer than QF is currently.
