Worrying scenes from inside as Flight attendants try to evacuate plane

I'm sure there's some work for a behavioural scientist here. It seems to be very common that people place more value on their own belongings than their or other peoples lives for whatever odd reason. I presume there aren't loud sirens because of the need to hear crew instructions, but...

Worrying scenes from inside as Flight attendants try to evacuate plane

Hard to tell from the video exactly how slow it was, but I honestly think I’ve seen regular disembarkation quicker than that, at least for LCCs that have very restrictive carry on policies (enforce restrictions or charge for larger carry ons)

ANSETT Brand relaunched as ‘AI-POWERED’ Travel Website

Ansett might have been first to introduce it domestically (before TAA did), in between First and Economy? With of course Qantas at that time only operating internationally. So a little of poetic license as Qantas did bring business class to Australia (and the world), just not within Australia.

Finally have EK F redemption in mind but still cannot book!

Had similar issue booking from Europe to SIN last night. Called up and got some nonsense about bookings not being allowed as no QF codeshare available. Politely accepted that denial and called back an hour later. This time had someone who knew what they were doing - they initially asked for...

    Jetstar new route Wishlist

Can't believe airlines need bribes to fly to SYD. WSI and NTL - yes, but SYD? Seems like a waste of money to me. TK were coming anyway, they'd announced it years ago.

Card payment sucharges banned in Australia from 2026

Several non Australian airlines also have surcharges for tickets originating in Australia. Further afield, Scoot reintroduced their credit card fees in Singapore, following the lead of the very soon to be defunct Jetstar Asia But it’s not a common practice like it is in AU.

    What cheeses me off

So one one hand there's a lot of concern about rental shortages and prices of rent going sky high, on the other hand there's a requirement coming in in Victoria for fixed energy efficient cooling to be installed in all rental properties in the main living area. This is not without it's...

Bumped from QF12 onto Hawaiian airlines without notification

Would the $200 be there to discourage those who might seek to take advantage? I mean perhaps to give enough uncertainty to encourage people (using tonight as an example) to take the $210USD Aloft Chelsea rather than the $1300USD Ritz Carlton. In QF's most significant overseas ports (LAX...

Article: Business Class to Europe on Budget Airlines: Worth the Savings?

Yeh, seats similar-ish. Food and service is very basic (1 meal, 1 beverage). And no IFE. But there is a price element to it as well. Of course you can get proper PE with decent a food on some routes but usually at quite a premium. I just picked random dates in October SYD-SIN return ...

Illogical points pricing with IHG hotel booking

Same thing happens with Bonvoy. Looking at a hotel the other day, near DXB airport. Very cheap right now - $45 USD/night flexible rate. Points 17,500 or points+ pay $53 + 8750 pt. At a more upscale property, you do get some value for your points, $158 + 20.500 points or $178 for the...

Bumped from QF12 onto Hawaiian airlines without notification

It’s a sad fact that AFF provides better customer support advice than (initial points of contact at) Qantas do. But I guess that could be said about many airlines and various other businesses.

Melbourne International Business Lounge Dungeon Food

it’s not an entree it’s the main. 🤣 :p (This is AFF afterall). That aside it’s also not cost cutting. It’s cost cut. In fact not even sure if it was anything to ever cut - it’s been a low cost item for a long time. Never mind - it’s does provide another form of entertainment in the lounge...

    SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Yes, I've not seen anything like it this year (other than 2020/21 of course), and I have been regularly travelling between SIN & MEL since I moved to SIN (from MEL) in 2009. At the start of the school holidays, I came back from BNE because seats out of MEL were impossible (or expensive, even...

    SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

What a week for that to happen! SQ was chock full all week to Australia due to school holidays. I’m pretty sure other carriers were too. Add insult to injury and QF2 SIN-SYD was cancelled (or delayed severely?) on Wed 16th which exposed QF to some criticism for not rebooking pax on other...

Interline baggage PER-SIN on SQ then SIN-USM on Bangkok - on separate tickets?!

SQ do have agreements with Bangkok Airways so are likely to through check your luggage from PER - they do tend to be fairly generous as far as thorough checking on separate tickets. However the risk of missing that flight is entirely yours - if you have a fare on Bangkok Airways that allows...

    Jetstar new route Wishlist

Agreed, I fly Scoot between SIN & MEL (which uses a 789 usually, that has a bank of seats with adjustable headrests and extra legroom) and can survive without IFE, and with QF & SQ return fares regularly in $1200-$1500 SGD mark, they are definitely a good option. But a hard no on their Europe...

    Jetstar new route Wishlist

I guess it depends on the yields they think they could get, but it would be I think unprecedented for a LCC to take on such routes. Was trying to think of the longest LCC route, globally (with regular public transport operations). The longest I could think of was ZipAir, Tokyo to Houston at...

Card payment sucharges banned in Australia from 2026

Surely this would have been on their radar. Any bank with decent risk management would have this identified as a risk and because RBA have been moving in this direction and talking about this for a while, you'd think at the very least the "likelihood" side of the risk equation would be high.

Card payment sucharges banned in Australia from 2026

For some of the industries where surcharging is most prevalent it probably will be difficult to tell whether they’ve absorbed the surcharge or not - due to dynamic pricing anyway. For the most significant of these - hotels and car hire - perhaps we could assume their pricing models are...

    Jetstar new route Wishlist

Would actually be nice for Jetstar to look at Asian beach/holiday destinations beyond just Bali and coughet? Or is it that Australians just aren't interested? I guess Cebu is a start. But places like Krabi, Danang, Lombok, Nha Trang etc come to mind.
