P1 status run- can it be done?

With the great loyalty QF shows us my reply loyalty is 1,200 SC a year and really dont want to plow any more money into them, BUT, I came across a few interesting legs that can rack up some SC's to get to the 20,500 SC i need to make LTP. Total cost out of pocket $85,000. A lot of money to spend...

Has anyone been impacted by the Coronavirus? Will travel insurance cover the costs if we wanted to cancel? Especially if the flights are with points.

I actually agree, there was really not much fun in an empty room. the waitresses were fun as they were joking a fair bit, which is hard to do if there is everyone there. They were positive, but they said its been like that for a week. Interestingly there were no newspapers, pamphlets or other...

Yes out Saturday, and this was the The Wing First Class "diner" at about 4pm. The only other person was my colleague. We had the place to ourselves and the waitresses were great, as they outnumbered us 3 to 1! 1581235905 And upstairs it was incredible with so few people. The flight down to SAI...

correction CX799 to SGN! Staff have been very low key and there seems to be an intermittent spray in the cabin now and then. But overall, just another flight but in masks

At this moment sitting on CX134 MEL > HGK J. J mostly full but the rest is 30 - 40% no hand towels just the prepackaged ones and it takes getting use to the staff talking to you in masks. A very quiet flight and MEL was also all but empty today at 6:30am. We are hubbing it to SAI so will...

Our one was just an industry workshop over two days, around 120 people, but was hosted out of the UK. Earlier this week there was a note saying it was on, but after i sent what was going on here in Thailand et al, it was cancelled. A bit of English Bureaucracy!

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Respiratory illness - Effect on Travel

Overnight i received a message from a contact in a company i deal with, so i know they are legit. They are in the metals business but i think their boss, who is not short of a quid, is trying to help the areas hospitals, etc.. Very concerning it mentions the Jiangsu province, just above...

Trivago in trouble [fined $44.7m for misleading advertising]

There still are some funny ad's out there and the Geico ones from the USA are not too bad. I was really sucked in by this one when i first saw it. Still brings a smile.

Trivago in trouble [fined $44.7m for misleading advertising]

All spin by a young pretty Millennial, all smiles, interrupting conversations, overhearing prices of other clients and rubbing it in how she got a better deal. Who wouldn't believe that!

Trivago in trouble [fined $44.7m for misleading advertising]

I would like to know how much of their advertising costs are as a proportion of the hotel costs! Everywhere I have travelled over the past few years they have had almost media saturation. They would not be getting it for free! And I'm sure all of us have the hotel staff yell out our hotel room...

Nice beers i have had recently - Trappist, lagers, Ales et al.

Another filipino beer that i thought was very good and worth finding was the Tuff Tuko American styled PA. It was very good and i found not over hopped which i find many of them are. Crisp on the taste and drinks well. Had it a a restaurant downtown Manila.

I really want an Australian Bonvoy credit card

Maybe not the CC we are all after, but a nice Christmas present from Marriott was my life membership card, in Ti! Would rather it be from Pt, but very nice with name and number inscribed on the back. Could not resist but flashed it booking into the JW in BKK over the weekend and it was the first...

Nice beers i have had recently - Trappist, lagers, Ales et al.

I'm supposed to be transitting on the way to Tirupati in the next two weeks so i will certainly seek it out. But, back onto beer, this was a very nice drop i tasted in the Philippines. I was expecting a lager type copy, but very surprised as very Hoegaarden like in taste, but not colour. Crisp...

Nice beers i have had recently - Trappist, lagers, Ales et al.

Was in Bangalore just before Christmas and stayed at the Sheraton. Went to their rooftop bar (at the World Trade Centre) with an Indian colleague. I ordered a craft Weisse, name escapes me, but the waiter brought out a different beer. After some discussion the reason given was the beer was "out...

    Bangkok Taxi Scam

Just talking right now in the office to my Thai colleagues its certainly not a farang problem! The GM's daughter was "taken" last weekend where the fare is usually 300 baht, but got hit with 500. She forgot to take the taxi number. GM said one of the rorts has a sort of a button/peddle that they...

    Bangkok Taxi Scam

in context across the taxi world, not a bank breaker for me, but, it is dishonest and illegal fiddling with a meter. I tip well, but the tourist who gets ripped off on this is not good. Can add another $15 - $20 to the taxi fare to a river hotel.

    Bangkok Taxi Scam

Agree it is a painful way, being on the other side of the airport you know you have been taken to the cleaners. Even worse is that you drive a long way past it too before turning into the airport.

    Bangkok Taxi Scam
