ExpertFlyer beta program - April 2025

Looks like they've rolled back their live site to the old version.

    SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Oh, that makes sense then... I did a search recently and wondered whether my memory was failing me or whether the points required on a redemption had increased... perhaps my memory is not as based as I thought it was becoming lately...

ExpertFlyer beta program - April 2025

I'm AEST time right now on Tue 24-Jun and can select both 24-Jun and 23-Jun at the moment...

ExpertFlyer beta program - April 2025

They're calling it "slightly more modern" and "mostly unchanged" for the desktop version. It looks similar but the feel is slightly different. None of my Seat Maps have converted properly (I was part of the beta testing, as were some others here.. ExperFlyer beta program - April 2025). I...

ExpertFlyer beta program - April 2025

The new version of ExpertFlyer has gone live for the masses. A few bugs/inconveniences I reported during the beta have not been fixed, but I guess they will be prioritising work and rolling out updates in various sprints over time. None of my saved Seat Map queries are working (still).

    Seventy Celebrations, Staycations and Surprises

I read the title as “celebrating 70 times”, not “celebrations for my 70th”, and wondered if 70 parties was too much… but why not! 🍾🎉🥳

    What's your golden travel rule?

As long as I have my phone, wallet and passport, I can probably buy anything I forgot.

Airports absurdly close to the city

If that was in Sydney, the airport would’ve been shut down by NIMBY’ers decades ago… 🙄 Reminds me of that song, “Which comes first, the chicken or the egg…” 😝

Will you still earn/retain Velocity status beyond 2025?

If it’s a TA booking and mixed airline, perhaps the taxes and airline/airport taxes are mixed up and so VA can’t determine the total fare related to its segment.

The American Express Velocity Platinum Card Insurance does not have a benefit for Loss Damage Waiver Cover.

Did anyone see the Aussie Lamb ad this year? How appropriate. Anyway… helpful thread as it highlights and informs others to perhaps ensure they read the T&Cs. Also helps to draw attention to specific circumstances which others may not have considered themselves. And sure… we all like someone to...

Preferred seating charge for second passenger on same ticket?

If that is a change, Qantas really should write the PhD for how to piss its loyal customers off. It’s an expert in knowing how to do just that.

    Inflight theft

You laugh, but am I known to check in my trusty blue/white/red stripe bag even travelling First or Business at the end of a trip. So handy to shove the stuff in that you don’t want to throw away after a long international trip, but don’t quite care if it makes it home or not. Perhaps I am that...

What's behind your AFF user name?

A clever change would be “New Handle (formerly known as Old Handle”). Is FKA a common acronym?

    Accor ALL Signature Discussion

Did I read somewhere this is a Brazil based program? Perhaps a Wise bank account would help? (Not saying you have to convert to local currency, but just that it tends to deal with international transactions commonly).

    Inflight theft

CTS airport in Sapporo had this for domestic flights when I flew there years ago.

Oh, so your handle is a verb/action/doing word 🤣

    Strangest (weirdest) in-flight passenger antics?

The whole aircraft clapped after takeoff when we departed CNS for HND on VA on the day of torrential rain which started the post-cyclone Jasper floods in Cairns. It was very touch-and-go whether we would depart at all, as it was reported water was already over the northern end of the runway, and...

Anyone here in a business that offers QFF points with purchases?

    It would be commercial-in-confidence, no?

Airports absurdly close to the city

Google tells me Osaka Itami airport is 20 kms north of downtown Osaka. Compared to KIX, 40 kms south of the city, that seems relatively close.

Jetstar Asia to shutdown on 31 July 2025

The Tokyo route is more reminiscent of the direct QF services to Tokyo, before AO (re-)appeared. There was (at least) two daily services, one of which flew onto BNE (with Domestic on-carriage pax) and one to SYD. Can’t remember the flight numbers… but I’ll have them somewhere on my laptop to...
