    Fixing QF Lifetime Status

The big problem with Qantas is their benchmark of success is Virgin. Nobody is pushing them to be better. Outside of Australia, Qantas is a nothing-burger brand. Internationally, nobody gives two hoots about QF, and travellers definitely wouldn't pay any kind of premium to fly them. I think...

    Fixing QF Lifetime Status

Because there are more inactive/non-Plat qualifiers who have LTG, than there are LTG who qualify for Plat. It's a numbers game. There is more upside in QF making the change than in not (plus there's a nice media tone to adding legit new features). The adverse selection group is now smaller...

    Fixing QF Lifetime Status

I wouldn't call getting a status credit headstart each year a perk. It should be there, but QF decided not to do it (to be fair - they probably didn't consider it at the time as nobody in the loyalty team would have personally had the experience of being lifetime status, and there were very few...

    Fixing QF Lifetime Status

^^ This is the only logic that holds any weight from Qantas's perspective of not wanting to change it. That, perhaps there are large numbers of folks who are lifetime gold/plat who continue to spend and fly, and the airline wouldn't want to jeopardize the spending of these folks. This might...

    Fixing QF Lifetime Status

Over the two decades or so that I've been on frequent flyer forums, the topic of lifetime status regularly pops up. Aside from lifetime Platinum, Qantas's lifetime status offering has never changed. This is despite the airline growing, shrinking, changing routes, making loads of changes to the...

Article: Airline Status Officially Makes People Spend More

Elite status drives the endowment effect in our minds. It's a proven behavioural economical psychology effect. Here's a new interesting article how status (matches) drive at least 1 person insane (in a good way) Done Right, Airline Elite Status Makes People Insane Both Qantas and Virgin's...

Redeem enrich points with another oneworld airline

Malaysia Airlines is not obligated to have a fully-functional search feature for all oneworld airlines because of their small size. As such, you'll find that searching for award flights using their website on partners doesn't show much and you need to call. To find availability on oneworld...

MH J Award using QFF Points (intra-Asia)

Here I am advocating for swinging points to Enrich for better availability... Yesterday I was searching for any award space to get into SYD next week and found that Malaysia Airlines is giving more award inventory to Qantas than their own Enrich members. Same day. Same flight.

MH J Award using QFF Points (intra-Asia)

Another option is to move a few Amex points into Enrich and book using those miles. Unlimited availability in all fare classes, whereas QF will only have access to X/U. ASEAN flights using Enrich miles can be worth it even with dynamic redemption as the rate is not static like other airlines.

Qantas Block Partner Earn on Competitor Routes

The value in VA is Velocity. Velocity -> move to -> Avios -> The increase in valuation of IAG Loyalty by having Avios in Australia may be enough to fund the transaction to purchase the airline. Side benefit of hurting Virgin Red's plan to have a global Virgin currency, which helps IAG (who...

Qantas Block Partner Earn on Competitor Routes

Do I understand correctly that: - QF domestic flights where flyer has QR/another oneworld FFP#, won't earn any points/SC into their other airline account if not on an international itinerary and the same sector is operated by a competitor where that flyer could earn points/SC into that program...

Gaining Cathay Status vs Qantas points / status

QF Gold > CX Silver. However, my personal opinion is that I'd probably be crediting to QR. Then get a generic Amex card in Hong Kong for QR/Avios earning. Why QR over the alternatives? - CX might not exist in a few years. - QF is on shaky ground. - QR is running elite status bonuses currently...

Credit Card Offers HSBC Star Alliance Credit Card: Fast-Track to Star Alliance Gold Status

There is also Visa and another Singaporean company involved in the card. This new article sums up nicely the 'brand test' Star Alliance is having in oz, and I probably agree that it will ultimately not be great but that doesn't matter much because HSBC will own the customer, and it will be a...
