    The totally off-topic thread

I must admit I really cannot remember anything exceptional about Worthing, except the pier which was opened just about the time Noah was seen wandering around saying "Hmmm, looks like it might rain". UK beaches in December are fine - so long as frostbite is your aim! And as for 3 quid for a...

Worthing, hey? Careful, you may fall asleep as you walk round! It's many a year since I was last there, I remember the pier but little else. Enjoy your champers when you get back.

Woohoo! No bubbly though - I've got a choice of Heineken or Tsingtao in the minibar :(

Not quite sure how to read that one. Don't forget this is a family friendly forum!:mrgreen:

    In flight phone calls

I would certainly agree. Definitely anti phone calls, but pro-SMS on the condition that it's a silent alert only. Nothing worse than a variety of bings, bleeps and "comedy" ring tones for the hard of thinking whilst you're trying to get some sleep.

    QF F or BA F

If it wasn't 1997, then it was 7 years before the A330 flew commercially! Or perhaps the alcohol binge started in 1987, but they drank so much they woke up in time for the first A330 being delivered to Cathay in the mid 90's?

Accor A|Club - a special kind of useless!

I wouldn't start thinking about making any award bookings on the basis of those points for another 9 months yet! Seriously though, maybe this represents the "ironing out" of the system issues that a|club clearly have, and that everything will be smooth running from here. And maybe I'll grow...

Accor A|Club - a special kind of useless!

It's only () the equivalent of a BNE-SYD return, but it's free! And who am I to argue, seeing as I specifically asked them to not transfer the points after all!

Boarding refusal in Rome by Qantas (BA as agent)

I reckon you'll be fine. I had a whole series of flights booked by our Corp TA and ticketed over about a year in a similar fashion - Davidimr xx_xx_ where clearly David is my first name, I the initial... Caused an almost humourous moment at the Lounge in BNE when the lounge dragon (presumably...

Accor A|Club - a special kind of useless!

So whilst I like most of the Accor hotels I stay at regularly, I find the A|Club program patchy at best. There have been many reports both on here and Flyertalk about having to chase to get points, and benefits given sparingly. I attempted on three occasions between October 08 and April 09 to...

    Receiving ACLUB Platinum Benefits

I've definitely had a real mixed bag. Some give the benefits without asking, some give when asked, some give very reluctantly and others just plain don't care. Pullman Sydney Olympic Park - couple of visits with nothing, but then one visit (after posting a review on Tripadvisor!) got a very...

    The totally off-topic thread

I really have an issue with these "the world will end on...." freaks. They are convinced the world will come to an end a week next Thursday, just after lunch, BUT they still have a superannuation plan....

Qantas launches new A330-200 on domestic routes

I have had that problem before. People don't seem to appreciate that it is touch screen and not push screen! (Yes, if at first the screen does not respond, press on it with the WHOLE of your body weight! Don't worry about the poor guy in front trying to sleep! It will do him good to have his...

choosing QF W or TG J

As TG says you'd have to be unlucky to get one of the old clunkers on the route you're looking at, as it seems that the old'uns are mostly used to Scandanavia, FRA and CDG. See TG Does it To Me AGAIN (Last Minute Equipment Swap) - FlyerTalk Forums

choosing QF W or TG J

I understand (from asking a very similar question over on flyertalk) that TG still has some old and tired equipment sometimes used in the region. If you get the old planes, then it would be no better than QF W for comfort. I'm flying TG J PVG-BKK-BNE at the end of next week, so I can post a...

'Please pack less' say baggage handlers

I don't think that anyone would dispute that there would be a degree of fair wear and tear. As you say the suitcase is there to provide a protective covering for your belongings, and just by being used and handled will mean that there is a degree of wear and tear. But I think it is the...

    Bangkok airport scam

Thanks for the heads up. It's smokes for SWMBO that I'm most interested in, but if it's as bad as that, then she may have to go without!

China Eastern J or QF Y?

Happy ending time, and just to show how much airfares are a complete rort ex-Australia..... So a little bit nervous about flying MU, and definitely not wanting to fly Y if J was on offer, I did a fair bit of digging around after the Corp TA could clearly not be bothered, and found a fare on...

Qantas launches new A330-200 on domestic routes

$76M for an A330 when the list price is circa $190M? Must apply for an Amex Centurion card, I've got to get me one of them at that price!

Jetstar refuses to allow guide dog on flight

I know that guide dogs are specially selected for their temperament, I guess it really would not do to have a guide dog that shot off and chased another dog/cat/motorbike at the drop of a hat when some poor blind guy is clinging on! I remember watching a documentary in the UK about their...
