New Zealand records Fresh cases of COVID19

Auckland back into level 3 lockdown & test on NZ in level 2. Interesting media presentation, we get the feeling not all information being released just yet. Hopefully 3 days will sort us out again

Qantas to shut airport service desks, force customers onto self-service

I have used the SYD and MEL customer service desks countless times. When your flight from SIN has been delayed, you arrive feeling tired and you have missed your connection ( domestic or International) it was never a big problem because we were directed to the service desk who had friendly...

    New Zealand Travel Bubble Announcement

Wow, Events are still changing faster than regulations. If you are an Australian citizen or a permanent resident you cannot leave Australia due to COVID-19 restrictions unless you have an exemption. I just read through these. New Zealand safe travel zone | COVID-19 and the border Exemptions...

    New Zealand Travel Bubble Announcement

I have just looked at the NZ ministry website. it seems a that kiwis returning home and staying for more than 90 days are exempt from quarantine fees, unless they left after Aug 2020. For non New Zealanders there seems to be no charge if NZ was your normal residence and you left NZ before March...

    New Zealand Travel Bubble Announcement

Does anyone have any info of pax numbers? I expect numbers would drop after the initial rush to reunite families, having a few Euro tourists move on to Aus on the world tour and a handful of businesses sending a rep over. Who else is travelling trans Tasman? And is anyone on the Syd-Akl flights?

What was your best or worst birthday while travelling?

Since we cant travel, more time to look back at the good old days. I had a birthday in J on EK DXB-SYD. In the middle of the flight the crew came along with a photo card and small cupcakes with imitation candles to say Happy Birthday. And in Delhi, the Oberoi sent up a birthday cake. I am happy...

    New Zealand Travel Bubble Announcement

An update NZ. There is another case of covid in the community and there appears to be lots of confusion, distraction and a bit of "dont care any more" attitude. We have had a weekend of elections and rugby. The weather was fine, everybody is out and about with only a few wearing masks and no...

Emirates baggage interline to Qantas on different PNR?

I hope it all works. Common sense would suggest that there wont be many bags at the moment.

American Airlines removes Main Cabin Extra Benefits for oneworld elites

I just saw this article saying AA are stopping Oneworld ruby and sapphire privilege of getting free access to Main cabin extra. Sad to see more enhancements to the OneWorld family. https://liveandletsfly.com/american-airlines-removes-main-cabin-extra-benefit-for-oneworld-elites/ On the AA...

    New Zealand Travel Bubble Announcement

NZ news is full of people saying this current bubble is going to help Aus tourism. As desperate as I am to get away from family for a holiday, I am not keen on a long weekend in Sydney followed by a $3000 14 day isolation stay. I have talked to a few people who are thinking of sending a staff...

What's the best unexpected gift you have received while travelling?

We were in Glasgow with young kids years ago. This was when the city was just tidying up and we had had lots of warnings about how dangerous the city could be. When we finally after rental car breakdown, found your apartment that we had booked for the week. 8pm, climbing the stairs with luggage...

New Zealand records Fresh cases of COVID19

sometimes its good to have a losing score. All eyes on tomorrows meeting to decide on lockdown levels. Still Level 3 in Auckland until Wed. Options include dropping to Level 2 with travel restrictions. As to the restrictions, Aucklanders are allowed to freely come back to Auckland. The media...

What's the best unexpected gift you have received while travelling?

The best upgrade thread is lots of fun. Travel can be bad and gets TV shows made about he horrible stuff, but it can be wonderful and unexpected. We were at the Dead Sea in Jordan and talked to the life gauds at the beach. I think it would be impossible to sink enough to drown, their main job...

New Zealand records Fresh cases of COVID19

We have a better game than covid numbers. Its called "Shift Responsibility". I know that other countries play this well and we are just getting started but Winston Peters, deputy PM and NZ first leader ( currently not rating enough votes to get his party back into parliament states that there...

What's the best travel upgrade you've received?

What a great thread. So much fun looking over good fortune. Its great to see the upgrades were unexpected and not schemed over like that cough who put a moonboot on in Singapore to scam an upgrade. Or the people who are in the lobby yelling about the most trivial issues. We had another...

New Zealand records Fresh cases of COVID19

Oops, it was interesting watching the news about aged care facilities. Some of these facilities have been proactive and now have a good store of PPE. Some Health Boards are more generous with providing ppe, and some aged care facilities are screaming they have nothing and are getting no help...
