Article: Europe Doesn’t Recognise Australian Vaccination Certificates

For many obvious reasons: available time, available routings, personal priorities. And until recently (and perhaps still in some places), the fact that you can move freely within Schengen now doesn't mean you have guaranteed full access to all facilities unless you achieve the use of a local...

Article: No Availability: What’s the Point of Buying LifeMiles in 2022?

I think people have to accept that points are either a short play or a game of patience. We're in an exceptional period still, from minimal travel and few planes to bazillions of travellers with hoards of points. There's no reason to assume it won't settle down to the "good old days", but it...

Saver Awards to/from Oz appear to have dried up!

It's never better via Velocity. Sometimes the same. Currently often worse.

    Velocity reinstates Singapore Airlines redemptions

I don't think that's the case anymore. Or not always the case. When I was looking quite extensively at MEL-SIN-Europe and v/v two months ago for later this year there was a massive disparity in what the VA website offered vs SQ Saver J . Basically less than half of the Saver award seats visible...

Article: Europe Doesn’t Recognise Australian Vaccination Certificates

Well $#@ me! I booked a trip months ago (for the future) just moments before they reversed their acceptance of non-essential Australian travellers, so to speak. A month later they allowed Aus tourists back, but only with testing (ok, fine), just a week ago the situation was unchanged, and then...

Priority Pass free visits when bank's card has been closed

I have a PP membership with two free visits, via a Bank of Melbourne card. That card account was closed some time ago. Is it necessary for the card still to be active for the free visits to work? (I'm not sure, for instance, whether a charge is sent through to the "gifting" bank and is then...

Qantas classic reward to Singapore - No business awards available?

That's barely two months away, with very high demand for OS travel now. As for next year, I don't know that route well enough from a QF rewards perspective, but school holidays and Easter fall in that period, so it depends on things like that too. And with QF anything else is possible too...

Changes to Frequent Flyer ANZ Rewards Terms & Conditions

It would be worth testing whether Auspost Billpay earns points. Probably not under these new rules... Using Paypal as the payment method in Auspost Billpay would probably still work, but also worth testing.

Additional Benefit on Velocity Earning Cards: 40K Points, 6 Months Gold or $300 Travel Bank

It of course also depends on what other applications you've made. Dec-Feb-Apr would be quite a high frequency for one credit provider (and would be a likely negative aspect of your credit record for any following applications). In my experience, Citi (across the whole issuing portfolio, ie...

Memorable experiences going through airport security?

Hehehe, you know, I started reading AFF not too long after that, so maybe I was inspired by the experience to name my profile when i eventually signed up . Better prepared for eventualities now, including headaches;)

Memorable experiences going through airport security?

In mid/late 2002 I had to travel to Toronto for a conference, flying back YTO-SFO-MEL. IIRC, you did US immigration clearance at YTO before boarding. I was a good boy and called Air Canada to confirm how early I had to be at the airport in Toronto. 2.5 hours they said. So I rocked up 2.5 hours...

Amex "I'm going to cancel my card" - bonus points given thread.

I have two travel credits (as the result of Covid-cancelled refunds) which don't expire for quite a few months yet. I lose them if I downgrade or cancel. Apparently, if you renew the existing card and then use the existing credits (before expiry, naturally) and then cancel without using any new...

Help with getting a credit card as a sole trader

Probably aim low (28 Degrees? Coles? Amex Essentials?) so that some sort of history can be established during your first few sole trader years.

The agent was perfectly happy to cancel me! (Maybe they were tired of me nagging them.)

Amex "I'm going to cancel my card" - bonus points given thread.

I've got another 5 days to decide. Really in two minds. Got almost none of the "benefits" of the card in the last untravelling, locked down year. The downgrade to $0 Essentials card or straight cancellation are being contemplated.

Amex "I'm going to cancel my card" - bonus points given thread.

My Explorer is coming up for renewal and a long online chat didn't even yield the initiative to suggest a downgrade if I wasn't happy with the value of the card as is. Quite surprising. If I hadn't proposed it myself, I'd have been on the cancellation path.

Usual time to credit Altitude points?

Thanks for your comment. I can update the thread now with more info: Westpac confirmed that adjustments are not counted towards spend requirements. Thankfully, despite none of the actions/responses being delivered within promised timeframes, the agent who dealt with the issue proactively...

Usual time to credit Altitude points?

I'm having a "fun" time with Westpac with a new card: first transaction got flagged as fraudulent, all accounts got locked, and it took two hours in a branch to resolve it. That first transaction didn't get credited as Altitude points until a manual intervention, listed as an "adjustment". So...
