Virgin Australia Pick Your Bonus Promo - Double Points or Status Credits - Ends 13 June 2025

If the base fare was a Virgin operated flight, any bonus applying to that will also go in the same Virgin operated bucket.

Major changes to Velocity Frequent Flyer announced 17/10/24

Your status review date is Jan, so you don't need to worry about the 238 VA credits by Oct. That's just when the change will apply for calculations from that point on. But they don't review you in Oct unless/until you need to be reviewed (e.g. upgrade/renewal).

Virgin Australia Pick Your Bonus Promo - Double Points or Status Credits - Ends 13 June 2025

While we'd all love extra space/less crowding e.g. empty seat rows down the back of the bus, it doesn't mean it's good for business. Of course, that's their problem... but businesses normally would rather not leave money on the table than prioritise customer satisfaction at their cost... and I...

    Booking flights on Points

If it's a reward fare (i.e. paid with points) you don't get status credits either.

    VA/QR Booking Question

Agree with the other comments that what you asked about will not be offered. Staff don't know your purpose e.g. you may be meeting (or travelling with) someone to travel to Abu Dhabi, so can't/won't assume that you don't need to make that flight (aside from tickets not being linked as it...

VA562 misses Sydney curfew but lines up for approach anyway

Except how can you guarantee that conditions are fine in the curfew period to come in over the bay? The reason for the different runways is to cater for wind direction. You can't; hence curfew can't be removed. And just because they are quieter now than they used to be doesn't mean they are...

    Velocity platinum

Only regular retail fares qualify for the spend. Upgrade spend isn't included. Wasn't included before, so no change now.

Will you still earn/retain Velocity status beyond 2025?

So choose a higher cutoff point and wear the revenue hit from downgrades and lost sales below that boundary? Wouldn't have thought the lounge cost so much for those low activity marginal elites or ran at a loss that the revenue loss would compensate for, but guess we'll see.

Who is going to the USA, who has changed their travel and what will you do differently?

I'm sure Trump would be fine if all 'aliens' were excluded, and only USAians won all the medals, making it the "Greatest Olympics ever!"

They've oversold our cruise! And we got the offer!

    No, permanent (for now).

Will you still earn/retain Velocity status beyond 2025?

I think your definition of 'loyalty' is a bit more extreme than in general. Your definition seems to be that you must stay with someone regardless of how you're treated. Whereas I think people are more pragmatic - loyalty is more about the current offering. If you reset/change the config, then...

Will you still earn/retain Velocity status beyond 2025?

Lite fares are 0 baggage included, regardless of status. https://www.virginaustralia.com/au/en/travel-info/baggage/checked-baggage

Will you still earn/retain Velocity status beyond 2025?

A carry on is the same between them (7kg each), a bag is something many don't need and those that do would account for it in their comparison (e.g. becomes ~$120 in comparison above). I doubt many bother about seat pitch or tea, or would just put them in nice to have, but not worth $50+. I'm...

Will you still earn/retain Velocity status beyond 2025?

Except... if all you're competing on is price, then the overwhelming advantage shifts to Jet*. So QF still has that covered. While many customers were actually after value rather than price i.e. perks and bennies from status, if that carrot has been removed then you're just looking at the best...

Will you still earn/retain Velocity status beyond 2025?

I look at it the other way. Just because the flight is a good price, most people don't fly every day, so it should have more SC value than just an everyday shopping trip to Coles.

Major changes to Velocity Frequent Flyer announced 17/10/24

More sophistry from Mr Rohrlach. In those rare cases someone has purchased a Flex ticket when a cheaper Business class ticket was available, it means more likely: 1) the ticket was chosen under company policies, that did not permit a business class ticket purchase but needed flexibility - in...

They've oversold our cruise! And we got the offer!

No, they'll lose money on the individual transaction as they're giving away a free cruise. That said, it's because they're fully booked so equally they're not doing it tough. And usually these emails are spread to a large group, not based on price (but may be other conditions).

Major changes to Velocity Frequent Flyer announced 17/10/24

Most people don't only book J fares domestically though. And if they do, gold status has marginal benefits for them - and isn't likely the incentive getting them to book. So the program changes aren't likely for that market.

Major changes to Velocity Frequent Flyer announced 17/10/24

Haven't seen anyone assume that - the reference is just the new benchmark to earn, just as if the program had changed to require 2500 SCs for Gold that would be how people refer to it, regardless of any other temporary offers or bonuses that may arise. Plus even under the current (old) program...
