    2025 Amex Membership Rewards Devaluation

For those that have a card other than Platinum (such as Explorer or Edge) the addition of Everyday Rewards will give them a route to transfer points to QFF.

I haven't got it yet either, I'm guessing they're getting sent out in waves.

I think if they were going to do that they would have announced it at the same time, to soften the blow.

New aviation industry ombudsman & customer rights charter in Australia

Interview with minister about the proposed "minimum set of standard" for aviation. There's some discussion about a proper pay-on-delay scheme but the minister argues against it claiming that it would push up ticket prices. (Ignore the displayed headline, the interview is in the ABC's News Live...

    2025 Amex Membership Rewards Devaluation

I'm pretty sure there's always been some warning in the past of these sort of changes. For example, when Krisflyer and Emirates transfers were devalued, there was three months advance notice. Obvious caveat though, past performance not an indicator of future returns, so to speak.

    New Amex statement credits

It's always worth checking back the next day if there's an offer you're interested in that hasn't appeared for you. I'm not sure if it's just because their systems take a while to roll these things out, or if they're deliberately rolled out in stages depending on uptake. Either way I've often...

    VA50: all toilets inoperable

I've noticed a lot of headline writers are having a field day with this. The clickbait headlines practically write themselves! :D

    VA50: all toilets inoperable

There's some more details in an ABC article: https://www.abc.net.au/news/2025-08-29/virgin-australia-bali-brisbane-flight-toilet-malfunction/105713124 Passengers do seem to have various accounts of when the toilets became unusable.

Virgin Australia UpgradeMe pricing and success

That's not what's being asked at all. The question is why you've kept shopping at Woolworths (if indeed you actually are doing that) , even while you constantly complain that they're doing everything wrong. One might conclude that your complaints are not serious and that you're just...

Virgin Australia UpgradeMe pricing and success

I think the complainants fall into four broad categories: Those that just don't like the aesthetics of the curtain Those that preferred the divider and rope for aesthetic or practical reasons Those that have been sneaking into the J toilet and are angry that will now be more obvious and harder...

Virgin Australia UpgradeMe pricing and success

The last VA operated flight from SYD last night departed at 7pm to Melbourne. There was no 8pm flight to Perth last night. https://www.flightstats.com/v2/flight-tracker/departures/SYD/VA?year=2025&month=8&date=23&hour=18 The lounge closes when the last flight of the day is called for boarding...

Virgin Australia to Reconfigure 737 Fleet - Spend $110M

This is the bit that frustrates me as well. If I could stand in the gate lounge of a totally full flight, wave a magic wand and reduce the weight of every bag there to just 1kg, it would solve nothing, there would still be too much baggage for the cabin. The weight isn't really the problem here.

Virgin Australia to Reconfigure 737 Fleet - Spend $110M

Ah, that makes sense then. Possibly a one-up-one-down type of rule? Bit difficult to enforce but would certainly encourage people to have a smaller personal item.

Virgin Australia to Reconfigure 737 Fleet - Spend $110M

That's probably going to be received about as well as a wasp at a picnic. Especially given that QF already has a more generous carry on allowance for domestic flights. Wasn't part of the fleet refit intended to include the more spacious overhead bins that would allow each passenger a full size...

    Krisflyer Elite Gold

This is also the case for other Star Alliance Gold customers as well. I've got *G with Asiana and when I'm using it on my Singapore Airlines booking I've (usually) only got access to contract lounges if it's a contract with another *A airline.
