    Qantas Delays/Cancellations

On Wednesday 27 August, B789 VH_ZNC on the timetabled 1100 hours QF6 (FCO down to PER) did not take off until 1417 hours. PER arrival on Thursday 28 was at 1117 hours, 152 minutes late. The second sector sees QF6 likely to arrive in Sydney at 1945 hours, 220 minutes behind schedule. This may...

    Qantas Delays/Cancellations

The QF flight status page suggests it landed in PPT at 2306 hours on Sunday 24, and departed at 0019 hours on Monday 25 August, so allowing time for the inbound taxiing, roughly an hour on the ground. Sufficient time to deal with a medical case (if there was one) and probably to refuel. Quick...

    Qantas' New A321XLR

This difference - four v 16 - seems unwise because if an aircraft fails and another needs to be substituted, QFd/QFi may end up with a different seat configuration. It complicates matters needlessly when standardisation ought be the goal. Hardly a 'consistent premium experience' if passengers...

    Qantas Delays/Cancellations

One I missed was that yesterday (Monday 25 August), QF3 from AKL to JFK diverted to PPT in Tahiti. It arrived in New York City at 1810 hours and took off from there at 2100 hours with Wednesday 27 August AKL arrival suggested as 0532 hours, 37 minutes late. B789 VH-ZNI has the honours.

    Western Sydney Airport (WSI) Discussion

True for low cost airlines, but perhaps less so for legacy airlines if the latter perceive lower yields per available seat from WSI compared to say SYD or MEL. (The latter is also perceived as less 'premium heavy' than SYD but that's a comment for elsewhere).

    Qantas Delays/Cancellations

Sunday 24 August 20254 finds QF129, the 1020 hours SYD to HKG airborne at 1205 hours, so gate arrival should be about 1912 early in the evening, 72 minutes tardy. QF19 (1225 hours SYD up to MNL, A332 VH-EBG) is expected to push back 45 late at 1310 hours. A388 VH-OQK is operating QF7, the...

    Western Sydney Airport (WSI) Discussion

I subscribe, and read it. Agree it was a negative for WSI. I can't see the attraction of this airport for so-called legacy international airlines. They are unlikely to attract those in J (or F, rarely offered) which is an important component as to how airlines in good economic times make...

    Qantas Delays/Cancellations

Friday 22 August 2025 sees QF59, the 1105 hours late morning SYD-HND expected to depart at 1230 hours. Aircraft is A333 VH-QPG. that arrived SYD at 0819 hours, 94 minuets late as QF128 from HKG. A388 VH-OQJ on the 0930 hours SYD across to JNB, QF63, did not take off until 1136 hours so gate...

    Qantas Delays/Cancellations

Wednesday 20 August sees a delay continuing on one of the Hong Kong routes, this time MEL-HKG with QF29 operated by A333 VH-QPG (the 1020 hours) not taking off until 1230. Arrival at gate should be about 1923 hours, 88 minutes late. Class leader A388 VH-QQA is rostered for QF11, the 1745 hours...

Credit Card Theft on SriLankan Airlines UL181 (CMB → KTM) – Please Be Aware

Sorry to hear of your experience. Shocking. My credit card is always on my person in a wallet. Probably the old fashioned way of travelling, and not immune to theft, but perhaps superior to stashing credit card(s) and cash in a bag. I also always put my backpack under the seat in front...

    Qantas Delays/Cancellations

Monday 18 August's delayed overnight QF7 from SYD to DFW took off on Tuesday 19 at 0736 hours with A388 VH-OQL. Arrival should be at about 0703 hours, 1113 minutes late. The Monday scheduled 2240 hours QF8 is forecast to depart on Tuesday 19 at 1130 hours. A333 VH-QPB is on QF59, the 1105...

    Qantas Delays/Cancellations

Continuing with Monday 18 August, A332 VH-EBM had overnighted in Sydney with it forming QF43, the 1620 hours to DPS that wasn't up up and away until 1841 hours. Expected arrival at 2256 will be 126 minutes late. Quite unusual for this flight to be more than half an hour late.

Qantas to outsource ground handling across Australia

I don't agree, because Mr Justice Lee still has to determine to whom the $40 million will be paid. It ideally should go into the pockets of the employees. This decision sets a precedent and will be very closely studied by solicitors and barristers who act for large companies.

Japan overtakes the USA for fourth spot in favored destinations for Aussies

Yes. As you probably know, the data has limitations. For instance if one was in England for 15 days and then Europe for 30, but no single country in the latter for more than five days, you'd write 'England' on the arrivals card, as 'Europe' is not a single country. However that's misleading...

    The NSW TrainLink Discovery Pass

Possible, but if the union has kicked up a stink, perhaps not. Agree 100 per cent it's a waste.

    Qantas Delays/Cancellations

This may have adverse ramifications for Wednesday 20's scheduled departures., although QF63 to JNB is not operating on that day while QF81 to SIN is a B789. -OQL has had a few recent delays. As these complex pieces of machinery age, they must be more challenging to maintain. Supply chain...

    Qantas Delays/Cancellations

Monday 18 August 2025 has A388 VH-OQL on QF7, the lunchtime 1210 hours SYD-DFW delayed to an expected pushback at 1800 hours in the early evening. Because there's a substantial layover in Dallas-Fort Worth, hopefully QF8 of the same date will be punctual.

    Qantas Delays/Cancellations

On Saturday 16 August, A333 VH-QPC operated SYD to HKG (QF127), arriving at 1938 hours, 98 minutes behind schedule. It returned (but to MEL) as QF30, arriving at gate on Sunday 17 at 0929 hours, 124 late, to form QF79, the 0935 hours MEL up to NRT that was in the air at 1139 hours. Arrival...

    The NSW TrainLink Discovery Pass

I haven't used an XPT fpr a while, but was informed earlier this year that car A (the first class sleeper with 18 berths, converted to a 'day sitter' on day trains with 27 seats i.e. 3 per compartment) is no longer being made available on the latter. If true, retrograde! This was allegedly...

    Qantas Delays/Cancellations

In more on Saturday 16 August 2025, QF71, the scheduled 1225 hours lunchtime from PER up to SIN has been altered to depart at 1520 hours. The aircraft (A332 VH-EBO) has been in Perth since 0844 this morning. A333 VH-QPG as QF59, the 1105 hours SYD up to HND did not take off until 1225 hours so...
