Amex Travel Credit - covid implication

My experience is the cash portion would normally be within a week and the points would follow shortly after but the wait varies. However, I can’t remember any incidence of waiting for over a month (hotel refund o my, still waiting for Qantas refund for cancellations 4-6 weeks ago 😞)

Amex Travel Credit - covid implication

Apparently non-cancellable rates, where available, would bring some savings. However, I reckon under the current conditions, last minute booking rate may not go up as all?! Always an option to cancel on cancellable bookings and rebook at the most competitive rate when the trip can go ahead (you...

Amex Travel Credit - covid implication

I had my hotel refunds (credit reinstatement) within a week of cancellation but am still waiting for my Qantas “refund” after 3 weeks of flight cancellation as advised by Amex Travel (typical Qantas I reckon?!)

Amex Travel Credit - covid implication

From experience, you will have to contact Amex Travel to cancel. I usually do it via online chat. Make sure you log on to the account that the travel credit was used for the booking, and navigate to Booking Travel online before clicking the chat button (otherwise it goes to the card services...

    New Amex statement credits

Well, it's the same for me - with or without these offers ;)

Platinum Charge Accor Plus Stay Plus free night

Thank you for your suggestion. I may raise this again with AccorPlus later - the fact that I now have 3 unused credits (1 being forfeited) demonstrates the real life value of these free nights to me under current circumstances. Further, I was promised an extension before I cancelled my late Aug...

Platinum Charge Accor Plus Stay Plus free night

A not-so-happy update, received a email reply in essence saying that they will only extend one night credit so the credit for the year before is "gone"

Asia Miles points extension request because of Covid

That's certainly great news and congratulations to those receiving the grandfathering treatment. I have just checked my Asia Miles account upon learning of the good news but unfortunately in my account, my balance is still shown as 2 tranches (earned before and from 1/1/20 respectively), with...

    Woolworths gift card thread

Well, I just bought some Woolies shares so well done Woolies Management. Keep coming up with these offers of good value (to shareholders, or, more aptly, your bonus pool?!) 🤪

Credit Card Offers Amex Platinum Card Benefits, Offers & Discussion

In my case, I cancelled the booking before the hotel booking cancellation deadline (without regard to thr travel credit expiry date, I think once you applied the credit, the expiry date becomes irrelevant) via Amex Travel online chat. Within a week (longest, may be sooner), a “new” travel credit...

Credit Card Offers Amex Platinum Card Benefits, Offers & Discussion

There is a hack (not sure if it’s ethical, don’t shoot) - make a cancellable hotel booking using up the credit m, cancel well in advance of the last cancellation deadline (in view of no foreseeable improvement in travel restriction), get travel credits reinstated for a further 12 months. I have...

Check Accor Plus free night availability

Happy to, but I don’t have a specific email address - I just log on to my AccorPlus account (via ALL booking site (the AccorPlus log on site always has problem) then navigate to support or contact us something like that for a web-based email enquiry. As reported earlier we received a response...

Thanks RAM for all your efforts. Exposing the craziness in bureaucracy is a feat by itself

    New Amex statement credits

Good advice. Thank you. I only did a comparison against my existing provider, Energy Australia, and I am in Upper North Shore Sydney. The deal makes sense to me with usage rates marginally the same (after all those discounts) but the daily supply charge is around 10% cheaper. So the Amex offer...

Check Accor Plus free night availability

Some pleasant experience/outcome to share - I have a StayPlus night expiring 31/8 and did have a booking for stay at Sofitel Brisbane Central (I am from Sydney) on 29/8. Sent an email online to request for an extension of the credit (in view of the current Covid restrictions). Received a reply...

Citibank quick cash with $100 gift card

Thanks @theblank. Just set up the "fixed payment option" offer for a $2500 drawdown. Purely for the purpose of getting the gift card as the cost of fund (0.9% set up fee) is approx 3.6% interest pa, which is higher than what I get on the offset account 😁

Citibank quick cash with $100 gift card

Probably a noob question - what does it mean by loss of the credit free period? Does it mean interest calculated from time of transaction (hopefully not?!) or time of statement. What steps need to be taken to avoid unnecessary interest/charges other than not using the card for new purchases at...

Platinum Charge Accor Plus Stay Plus free night

I have 2 Free nights credit expiring end of Aug but had to cancel a booking mid-Aug due to the extended Sydney lockdown. Another booked 28/8 but also looks unlikely to proceed. Also keen to know if anyone has any favourable experience under similar circumstances 🙏
