    Going to China

BIG MAC?? How could you?! Mind you I can't really criticise having eaten in Starbucks! Avoid drinking in the western branded hotels if you don't want to be ripped off for alcohol. Their prices are set up just to rip off the wetern traveller who doesn't want to go out and ask. I remember...

    Flatus

I'd ask the CSM for the cork from the J cabin champers and a pair of rubber gloves. Just for the look on the dirty bugger's face :mrgreen::mrgreen:

Shanghai - A trip report in it's infancy...

Munitalp, I've personally been to Beijing and Shanghai in Dec/Jan/Feb, and even for an ex-Pom I found it ....ing cold. I've also done the sleeper Shanghai-Beijing train, and the toilet horror stories are probably slightly over exaggerated. Certainly no worse than using the gents after 30000...

    Qantas wants clearer pet rules

Mine does as well simongr, when he's in his normal routine, but when he's out of his routine, such as in a strange house or strange environment, then he's not quite so good. He's only a toddler at 15 months though!

    Whats your favourite plane?

For me there is absolutely no contest - Concorde. Although I've never flown in it, it seems to have followed me around most of my life. It started with my grandfather who worked at Filton airfield near Bristol, UK in the 60s whilst Concorde was being developed there and he always had stories...

    Qantas wants clearer pet rules

For me pets should not be allowed in the cabin. Period. There are too many issues, in my opinion, with hygiene (as already mentioned, Fido can't be expected to cross his legs for a DRW-SYD can he? And also the hair and fur left over - increasing turnaround time with extra cleaning requirements?)...

    Suggestions for Christchurch area hotels

We're going for 3 nights, so the current hope is thursday night, airport or city centre, travel somewhere special for Friday night. and then back to the city for Saturday night. I've had a look through the usual suspects - Wotif, Hotels.com and on Qantas.com and have seen a few nice places, but...

    Suggestions for Christchurch area hotels

Mwenenzi we're going in early November, hopefully when it's a little warmer :). Never to been to NZ, let alone CHC, which is why I was looking for advice from the experts! The reason for the 1 hour from CHC request was purely because the flight arrives at 2235 and departs at 0615. Am happy to...

    Suggestions for Christchurch area hotels

Having taken advantage of yet another Jet* sale, the 2MP clan are heading for CHC for a long weekend. Now I can play it safe and cheap and stay in one of the Accor properties in the city, as I have a goodly collection of a¦club vouchers to use. But I'm looking for suggestions for nice...

    Buy the cheap flights then

There are a few benefits of Silver that are worth having, such as check-in at the QC/Business counters and enhanced luggage allowance. But it is Gold really, where the benefits start improving dramatically (I'm talking about QC membership). If you don't fly enough to make Gold, then perhaps...

    QF - 15 SC & 1300 points for 10 bucks?

So, some nuts, some beer and some cheese......yep, that's all the basic food groups covered! Interesting to note that the random number generator that is the QF pricing engine throws out a slightly different cost for the flight I booked only a couple of days ago. It's now gone up to $394! I...

    QF - 15 SC & 1300 points for 10 bucks?

Well, so long as they've got some sort of food and beverage that I don't have to pay for I'll be happy.;)

    QF - 15 SC & 1300 points for 10 bucks?

JohnK, they're definitely separate flight numbers with >3 hours and 2 hours between the flights. More than enough time for a swift beer in the QP. I'm in no real rush to get home, so breakfast, lunch and dinner will be courtesy of QF. Medhead, when I worked the itinerary out online...

    Accor A|Club

Gordo, I'll be interested to hear how you go using your vouchers, as I've just emptied out my a|club account and got US$720 in vouchers. I was expecting to use them in one of my next trips, either Cairns in August or Christchurch later in the year, and am interested to hear how easy the...

Air Canada permit pets as hand luggage

I must admit the title "Air Canada permit pets as hand luggage" did make me laugh. I had visions of new businesses starting up that promise to be able to fix a handle to any breed of dog......or getting to check-in and the check-in person saying "Sorry, your Labrador is too large, you'll have to...

    QF - 15 SC & 1300 points for 10 bucks?

This is another of those times where the domestic multi trip bookings throw out some bizarre prices..... The background: was looking for a cheap way to get back from Cairns in mid August having booked flights for the other 6 in the party in the recent Jetstar 2-for-1 sale. Also had a $200...

    Ethical Hotels?

For me this is attempting to measure the unmeasureable when using the word ethical. It can mean so much in different people's minds, or mean nothing at all. What would an "ethical hotel" actually mean to your average Joe Punter? However, on the "green" track you might get a little more...
