Article: China Eastern to launch AKL-EZE route in December 2025

The MU/QF partnership appears to be limited to flights between Australia and China. Even if QF applies a codeshare to enable AU-AKL-EZE on a QF code, expect those will be much more expensive than the MU coded flights - as is the case with LATAM flights to SCL and beyond,

Article: The problems with Virgin Australia codeshare bookings

Not to give VA any credit here, but at some point UA changed their program to only count UA flights towards million miler status. Star Alliance and other partner flights count for zilch in that regard, only towards redeemable miles and annual status. As unlikely as I am to fly almost 9,000SC...

Airports absurdly close to the city

Yes! You walk out of the terminal doors and, hello, downtown Rio de Janeiro. The approach over Guanabara Bay gives you amazing views of the city and the Sugarloaf.

Velocity 15% transfer bonus May 2025

Actually looking at my transaction history, the transfer bonus for the November 2024 transfer promotion wasn't posted until 10 January 2025, which probably means this time round they will come in early July. And Airwin you're right they probably have to accrue for them.

Velocity 15% transfer bonus May 2025

The T&Cs state that "Bonus Points will be allocated to the Member’s Velocity account by 30 June 2025". Unlike previous promotions, it looks like they are waiting until then rather than instantaneously. I wonder whether this is dressing up the accounts for the VA IPO, if they wait until 1 July...

LATAM Airlines will resume non-stop Sydney-Santiago flights

And looks like SCL-MEL will become daily from December. Dropping the AKL-SYD stub will mean some of the challenges it causes will be avoided, once my AKL stopover became an extended transit because the crew to staff the AKL-SYD leg hadn't had sufficient rest time from their previous flight...

TATL in whY- BA vs AA as QF Plat?

As Platinum do you still get complimentary Main Cabin Extra on AA? I got this some years ago when I was Silver, but their web page no longer lists this as a Qantas benefit: https://www.aa.com/i18n/travel-info/experience/seats/main-cabin-extra.jsp

    LATAM booking Failing at payment

I have never had the LATAM website work for me for all the reasons in this thread, when I travel to South America I use our corporate travel agent to ensure I get a properly ticketed and paid ticket.

Anyone heard about a change in earnings rate?

That started well before this year, but Classic Plus rewards have accelerated this. Classic Rewards now seem non existent, and PayWith Points and Classic Plus valuing one QFF point at 0.5 to 1 cent, maybe slightly more if you look around. Tweaking the earn rate on domestic flights doesn't change...

Qantas rejecting to give points flying in Qatar Airways

If you booked online with Amex, the fare code is visible at the time of selecting flights - a search just now showed Qatar Economy coming up as S (which is not eligible). That fare code does not get listed in the email confirmation from Amex. If you booked on the phone, you would have to ask...

What do you collect on your travels?

Started out with tickets - I still have the old cardstock ticket with carbon paper layers from my first QF flights to Europe as a child. Once they moved increasingly electronic, that moved to boarding passes - although not all are readable as the thermal paper on some of them tends to fade...

Qantas Health Insurance - 250 points for a Quote

$62,500 for 50,000 pre-qualified leads with income data to enrich your campaign database, plus the possibility of converting some into policies. Most marketing departments can only dream of those campaign metrics.

Qantas Health Insurance - 250 points for a Quote

At a "Pay with Points" rate of 0.5 cents, that's $1.25 to get a whole bunch of additional personal data for the algorithms to match up against your personal profile. Clever move by the data crunchers over at Qantas 'Loyalty'.

Who is going to the USA, who has changed their travel and what will you do differently?

I travel to the US regularly on business. With airfares so high, I have been considering the cheaper fares which go via Asia, although thinking twice about that after the report last week of an Australian who flew Cathay to JFK via Hong Kong being denied entry because CBP could not understand...

Will you still earn/retain Velocity status beyond 2025?

The only really valuable thing from status for me is lounge access: - if I'm flying VA's international partners I'll credit to QF/DL/SQ to qualify / maintain respective alliance status - if I flew regularly with VA domestically, I'd get their Amex which gets you lounge access anyway...

Overview of lifetime airline status tiers & requirements

Fair point, but from my reading on the SAA Voyager rules, that requires 6 consecutive years at Platinum (at least 95,000 miles per year each year for at least 570,000 miles in total over six years) or at least 720,000 miles in four years. That is a LOT of flying - it's taken me over a decade to...

With Asiana about to depart Star, there are no other programs that count alliance partner flights towards LT status in Star, unlike OW or ST.
