Indeed United. gives Milliion mile flyers Lifetime Star aslliance Gold, AND their nomianted companion lifetime Gold as well.

Not to give VA any credit here, but at some point UA changed their program to only count UA flights towards million miler status. Star Alliance and other partner flights count for zilch in that regard, only towards redeemable miles and annual status.

As unlikely as I am to fly almost 9,000SC on VA metal, there is no way I am flying 1 million miles alone on UA metal!
