Global Airlines (technically) starts selling tickets on a wet-leased A380

I can't tell if this airline looks more or less like a joke now that it's actually operated a flight. (Well, technically they didn't even operate it as HiFly did.)

    Canberra dinner - Thursday 5 December 2024

If we do a lunch or dinner on 12 July, I'm thinking of trying Sammy's @ Foreshore in Kingston. Would this be of interest, or should we go back to the Kingo?

No China Eastern reward availability on the Qantas website

The Qantas website is still showing zero Classic Reward seats on any route on China Eastern. I've just searched for reward seats on a bunch of MU routes and there are no seats appearing whatsoever. Bizarre. As far as I can see, QF and MU are still partners...

New Adelaide Qantas Club & Business Lounge

I love the sound of a pie floater! I thought that's what VA did when they opened their new lounge here. 😂

New Qantas International Route from Adelaide to Auckland

Yes, good point. Looking a bit more closely , the flight times between AKL and ADL are just a bit too long to make this work (efficiently) both ways.

New Qantas International Route from Adelaide to Auckland

As @jrfsp says, this only connects to JFK and not from. But still, for those originating in NZ, something other than a 6am departure from AKL is quite nice.

    Malaysia Airlines Brisbane Service

I wonder if the fact they keep adding and removing service also makes it more likely they'll fail the next time. People might be reluctant to book if they're not sure the airline won't cancel their flight again.

    Canberra dinner - Thursday 5 December 2024

It's going to be difficult to find a date/time that works for everyone. Based on what works for the most people, I'm thinking now of Saturday 12 July. Would it work if we did a lunch that day, or do people prefer dinner?

USA to Regulate Advertised Pricing to Include "junk fees" (e.g. resort fees) for Hotels

Looks like this law has now come into effect in the USA. https://www.cnbc.com/2025/05/12/resort-fees-must-be-disclosed-what-to-do-if-youre-charged-one.html Resort fees are not banned, but the total price must be the most prominent one displayed on hotel (and live event) booking websites.

    Qantas Green frequent flyer tier

I recently considered booking one of the "sustainable" hotels that gets you a green leaf. There's no option to filter to only show sustainable hotels on the Qantas Hotels booking website, so I had a look at this list. There aren't really that many hotels on the list and it doesn't seem to have...

    Emirates' misleading reward booking engine

I first learned about this restriction when somebody transferred points into Skywards, then couldn't book the one-way flight they intended to. Wonder if they changed this rule? The FAQs still clearly say no one-way Saver rewards are possible. Something doesn't add up.

    Emirates' misleading reward booking engine

If you search on the Emirates website for a one-way classic reward in Economy or Business, and there is Saver availability through Skywards, the website will show it as follows: As you can see, there is no indication at all when viewing the available flights that Saver classic rewards can...
