Yes, good point. Looking a bit more closely , the flight times between AKL and ADL are just a bit too long to make this work (efficiently) both ways.

As @jrfsp says, this only connects to JFK and not from. But still, for those originating in NZ, something other than a 6am departure from AKL is quite nice.

I wonder if the fact they keep adding and removing service also makes it more likely they'll fail the next time. People might be reluctant to book if they're not sure the airline won't cancel their flight again.

I first learned about this restriction when somebody transferred points into Skywards, then couldn't book the one-way flight they intended to. Wonder if they changed this rule? The FAQs still clearly say no one-way Saver rewards are possible. Something doesn't add up.
