Besides the URL trick, another thing you could try is to do a search for a flight to another airport, then once you've done that, editing the search and selecting the destination airport you actually want.

It depends, but often for me I would choose a wide-body over a narrow-body plane. It's usually more spacious, with seats and IFE designed for longer flights, and an all-round more pleasant experience.

It's not quite that bad, Points Plus Pay gets you approx. 0.61 cents per point last time I checked.

It looks like you're seeing Classic Plus pricing, which means you'll be getting exactly 1 cent/point in "value". I'd save the points for something better and book a cash fare ;)
