Linking tickets to save on baggage fares - USA

Hey Gang, So I've booked my shell tickets to the US over the Christmas holiday next year flying Delta, SYD - JFK; SEA - SYD. Not my first choice but with the deal I found it was impossible to pass up. Now on to my real question, I have yet to book my internal flights as I'm still trying to...

travel from united states to australia

If I were you I'd rely on the train. Circular Quay station is real close to the shangrila. Traffic in Sydney is a whole other animal you don't want to be on the wrong side of. Also a taxi from the airport to the city won't be cheap. Not less than $30.

Flying US - AU on QF, on an AA flight number

You'll have to check the fare class. I booked through AA once and received nothing for it through Qantas, no points, no status credits, nothing. A quick Google search will pull up the Qantas page for you.

    Virgin Syd - LA pricing

Being American, I often fly back and forth. $1000-$1200 in economy is a terrific fare any time of the year. $1700-$1900 or less during school holidays are also great fares. It seems everyone is price war-ing at the moment, so I would jump on them while you can. I think the last time I paid...

travel from united states to australia

Your itinerary is exhausting!!! It's suppose to be a holiday. Why don't you just pick one activity for your first day in Sydney, and spend the next morning bumming around the Botanical Gardens and RELAX before your long flight home.. Then at lunch jump on the train at Circular Quay to the...

Booking through a travel agent or booking direct?

Depends how complicated your travel needs are. Are you just going from point A to point B, or are there a lot of stops in between? The last time I used a travel agent was years ago. I need a flight from Papeete to Bora Bora and at the time the only way to purchase said tickets was through a...

    Travel Insurance covering missed flights

I've actually been in this situation before and most "decent" airlines will rebook you for free at the airport. I guess the key term is "at the airport" though.

LAX transit question - separate ticket

Another word of caution for the driving option is the speed on the highways. 130 - 140 kmh is standard once you get out in the desert. For the unsuspecting it can be a bit white knuckle.

    Vietnamese Domestic Flights

Yes Vietnam Air, not Jetstar. I flew Jetstar from Hoi An to Hanoi and it was chaos. I was surprised there weren't chickens running freely around the plane.

    New York Airports at Christmas

The TSA Pre check is offered to US Citizens who are members of a participating airlines FF. I looked into it. My mother, who flies a handful of times a year, always gets it and leaves in the dust when I'm visiting.

    New York Airports at Christmas

Balls, it's what I feared. I just wasn't sure if Business Elite passengers were privy to expedited security clearing, but if not then it's not worth the price to me.

    New York Airports at Christmas

Anyone have first hand experience? I'm looking to leave from a New York airport on either Christmas Eve or Christmas. I know that all airports are normally swamped, but just wondering if it was worth the extra dough for a business class seat in order to get priority during this time. Or just...

UA - Quality (?) of service

I flew UA once SFO to SYD years ago as they had just started the route so fares were extremely cheap. WORST. The worst trans pacific flight I've ever had. Jetstar to Hawaii was leaps and bounds ahead this service.

    Getting Off At a Layover

Yeah we will have checked luggage. But I reckon we could go a day without it, depending if it will stay at our destination?

    Getting Off At a Layover

Hey all, just a question I've been wondering and a bit of backstory. A buddy of mine is getting married in upstate NY. To leave I was looking at flights from Albany to Denver. The cheapest flight that came up had a layover in Minneapolis. I've got some friends in Minneapolis that I haven't seen...
