Sorry to bump up an old thread... I'm flying rtn PER - SYD on Friday/Sunday. according to the seat selection maps it's a 2 x 2 x 2 layout which means one of the new birds right? Or did i read in another thread a while back that VA were no longer selling the middle seat on the old birds?

I think this was to be expected. You can't make such a massive system change and not have teething issues like the one's posted here. They were already taking a big hit for having a coughpy LCC booking system, so the system change had to happen. Hopefully they will push through these teething...

Interesting. Looking at heading to DRW in a couple of weeks, so the via Melbourne option might be worth while if i can get upgrades to clear. There is a painful 3hr stop over in Mel between 10:30pm and 1:30am. Does anyone know if the lounge is open during this time?

Have the same issue with ex PER flights. Able to find flights PER - SYD, then SYD - pretty much anywhere. But searching from PER - pretty much anywhere results in no flights available. Really a pain when trying to find available flights (especially rewards flights!)

That could work.. The other option i though about was signing the old man up for a velocity account - then using family pooling to get the points back?
