Anyone got any Qantas photos from the day

I'm more amused by the "no smoking" designated seats. I don't recall flights in the 90s smelling like a casino but then perhaps all the second hand smoke fogged my memory!

Federal Police bust hire cars companies at airports!

Something about this doesn't make any sense... If it is a part of the road rules then I can't see how it would apply to private property like an airport parking lot. Plus you have to go through security to leave the parking lot anyway.

Positive result! checked in early to get a window seat row 5. i only hope the reservation system will sort out these sorts of things in the future...

    Business Class Trip Report

The flight attendants regularly call pax by their names in business class and can be easily overheard. Not sure how mentioning a name in an email is any different?

    More 777s heading down under?

What else was there besides the engine stall on take off in April 2011?

    International Seat Allocation Ping Pong

No i haven't changed anything myself but the booking got messed up on their end a couple of times now each time dropping the seat allocation. I'm not sure I should be penalised each time they change the booking without contacting me first...

What's your prediction on the Australian Dollar?

Well the GOLD ETF in Australia is secured against actual physical assets so it's almost as good as the real thing. (Unlike some overseas where they operate more like futures with no physical gold backing) If AUDUSD reaches parity again it will cost me around $500 extra compared with the 1.07...

    More 777s heading down under?

Certainly, the LAX-SYD incident last year certainly shows the need for additional aircraft to cover the unexpected but i'm guessing the fleet size is too small to justify it at this point? They had to scramble a 747 from ANZ from memory, but perhaps they have agreements in place with their...

Business Class Fares - Dropped in Price

Was on J MEL-OOL yesterday (full price) and it was full. But then again it is Easter...

    More 777s heading down under?

Is there still any truth to the rumour of dropping the MEL-LAX route in favour of daily BNE-LAX flights? If not, perhaps a couple of extra 777 could fill up both routes? It's doubtful they would purchase any as spare though (as much as that would be great for peace of mind). They tend to keep...

What's your prediction on the Australian Dollar?

Looks as though it might drop below parity before jumping back up again. Still have a few Marriott reservations yet to be charged to me card, oh well at least I have some GOLD ETFs as some leverage against the currency drop.

    International Seat Allocation Ping Pong

Hi Boris, It is a seat allocation showing up on my itinerary (or at least was up until recently). I call it a "preference" because VA explain that on international flights seats allocations are never a sure thing. Funnily enough I have received a private message from a rep to investigate...

    International Seat Allocation Ping Pong

i'm just a lowly red soon to be silver but they assured me things such as status would not cause my allocation to get bumped. then again they couldnt provide me with an alternate explanation either. :(

    International Seat Allocation Ping Pong

I've had a bit of a frustrating experience over the past few months regarding my first international business class flight on Virgin Australia for next Monday. I put in my seat allocation preference of a window seat back in November 2011 and three times now the seats have been removed from the...

What's your prediction on the Australian Dollar?

My guess is it could reach as low as 0.95 against the USD. I've tried to prepay my US trip as well but some of my prepaid bookings such as for Marriot have not appeared on my card yet and I booked them days ago!

    Fat flyers

My guess is the passenger that lost part of his or her seat could sue for discrimination on the basis of not being given a full seat! (While the larger passenger gets more than one..)

A380 OQA mostly repaired - Back in air by end of April?

Re: Nancy back in the air by End of April I'm guessing its not easy with the A380 to swap out the engines for the GP7270 instead. GE engines tend to have a better safety record over RR.

    Promotions to USA in Aug/Sept?

August/September is right in the middle of peak season for US travel so promotions are going to be pretty hard to find. (And seats fill quite fast in my experience) $1600 return economy SYD-LAX is probably about the cheapest i've seen it during peak season.

Who changed my pre-allocated seat and why?

It might be a different system but the J seat allocations for my BNE-LAX flights is a bit messed up on the website. My return seat is showing as 3A even though the selector is showing someone else in that seat at the moment. The staff have always been helpful in fixing my allocations over the...

Biz Class - Call centre and E190

I thought the upgrade fee only applies to saver fares anyway. Otherwise everybody would just upgrade to a Flexi or Business fare whenever they needed the flexibility. Airlines have also been known to waive the fees on certain occasions (as you've no doubt experienced) but i don't think it...
