Emirates Award Bookings Now Available via Aeroplan

My last AS award was ORD-SEA-LAX-NAN-MEL in business class for 55k miles with a stopover in SEA and I indeed missed out on lounge access in ORD. (but not SEA, of course) You can spend 182.2k QF pts (43.8k+138.4k) for the same route, but 127k pts for access to a domestic US lounge is a bit steep.

Emirates Award Bookings Now Available via Aeroplan

The easy way to rack up AS points is to credit QF flights to AS. (I don't remember which decade I last credited a QF flight to QFF. Might have been this century, might not.) Yes, if you are buying points, AC is cheaper than AS.

    International seat selection not available

Would you expect this situation to change at T-80 for a flight for which EF shows seats available?

    Abandoned in Bali by Jetstar

Getting what you paid for is not a perk. It's what's to be expected of any service provider. Even when flying much-maligned US carriers, every time one of them (or their partners) have had a cancellation, I've been offered a same-day alternative, even if they had to put me on another airline.

Article: Marriott Ends Bonus Points on Transfers to 3 Airlines

I made transfers to AA back in the SPG days (during bonus offers), but that is apparently insufficient for them to send me this notification email.

Alaska Airlines to "simplify" award charts from December 2022

That's the only one I'd have any hope of staying as it is. AA charges 20k and BA charges 22k, so a rise isn't justified there.

Alaska Airlines to "simplify" award charts from December 2022

There is really nothing good about this. Look at the award prices for newly added carriers, such as SQ and MH, vs the older ones, such as CX and QF. A region-based table is unlikely to make any prices come down, which means we're likely to see an astronomical increase in the ones that matter...

    Ridiculous site check

I clicked on one link from the latest AFF email. No problem. Clicked on a second link and got this. It sat there for several minutes, before demanding that I do multiple captchas. This is the kind of inane coding that makes me stop using a site altogether.

    Flybuys survey drops out early

I received a survey about transferring Flybuys points to Velocity Points and earning Velocity Status Credits. Offering 500 points for completion. Hosted by paralleldata.decipherinc.com. It dumped out to the Flybuys home page without warning or any kind of message after I'd answered questions on...

Flybuys Survey posing Qantas Points Option

If you really have a stack of FlyBuys points, you can use them to book SQ business class. I can't imagine there are many people who think that is useless. I wish I had more ways to earn VA pts instead of QF.

Amex MR to Marriott Bonvoy transfer bonus

I wouldn't call it good, just less awful. If you transfer directly to an airline, Amex is 2:1. e.g. 60k MR -> 30k SQ With this offer, 60k MR -> 60k Marriott -> 25k SQ You're losing out unless your alternative airline beats SQ by at least 20% (10% in the case of UA which gets a 10% bonus on...

No seat allocation when booked through a partner

I expected that VA wouldn't have a toll-free US number as the new incarnation doesn't fly there. Used Google Voice for a free call and was answered immediately by a Filipina who sorted it out. Definitely the way to go if you are outside Australia.

No seat allocation when booked through a partner

This is all irrelevant. Someone didn't read the second sentence of my post. Obviously I have the PNR or I wouldn't be able to get to the point of VA's web site giving me the error message when trying to do seat allocation. They said it couldn't be done. At all. Not just that they couldn't do...

No seat allocation when booked through a partner

If phone agents can do it, airport agents should be able to. Or at least phone someone who can instead of being lazy liars. Who wants to sit on hold on a 13 number for who-knows-how-long? Anyhow, I'll be overseas until I take that flight. Phoning a 13 number from overseas is not a reasonable...

No seat allocation when booked through a partner

I have an Air Canada booking that includes SQ and VA. I can do seat allocation on SQ's site fine, of course, but on the VA web site, if I try to get seat allocation, I get the message that I can't "modify" such a booking. I haven't had issues like this with other carriers for years. How can VA's...

    AdBlocker Detected!

When I visited today, ads used 100% of my CPU, so I turned my ad blocker on. That fixed the CPU waste issue, but the pop-up that blocks 80% of the screen came up. Turned the ad blocker off and the pop-up continues to block access for another 10 minutes. This is a lousy user experience.

Digital Passenger Declaration to Replace Incoming Passenger Card

Because clearly the best way to give the government data that it already has is by taking photos of pieces of paper printed out from one of that same government's web sites.

Is hotel housekeeping a lost art?

I stayed at a hotel last month where housekeeping were still going after 9pm. At another, the housekeeper said mine was her 29th room for the day. Some hotels just haven't ramped up staff as quickly as their increase in bookings. I had one hotel which said they only did housekeeping on demand...

Qantas to launch in-depth partnership with Accor ALL

I followed the advice of Muppet501st above. That Muppet is, of course, not as much of a Muppet as Accor's IT department. I was told by email that "there seems to have been a technical issue". (If you've ever dealt with Accor before, this will be utterly unsurprising.)

Qantas to launch in-depth partnership with Accor ALL

Update: Almost a month after reporting the issue, twice, to Accor, I finally received Qantas points for my January stay, titled "GOOD WILL POINTS" in my activity statement. These schemes where you have to follow them up all the time are awful. Reminiscent of the 1990's.
