SYD-LAX-LHR with AA, where to book? $2000 AUD return.

Gotogate.com are showing return flights with American Airlines from Sydney to London via Los Angeles. The prices start at $1500 USD. I actually booked one of the tickets but had to cancel it. I like this route as it has a full day stopover in LAX each way and a change from going via Asia, but...

    QF-EK broken promises

I think it's not unreasonable to want to avoid Dubai. I lived in the Middle East for several years and my wife will NEVER fly via the Middle East again, even flying J and with an Australian passport because she is of South East Asian origin her experiences on occasions have been interesting...

Waiving of annual fee for Black Card?

Thanks. Unfortunately the fee was taken out on the last day of the statement month and so too late to act. I have however been offered a $110 gesture refund.

Waiving of annual fee for Black Card?

I play the credit cards changing annually, however this has caught up with me this year as I've been incredibly busy working overseas and have managed to forget to cancel and change before the annual fee on my ANZ black Qantas rewards kicks in. I logged in on the app this morning to see a new...

Lounge access with expired Qantas card

Sadly, I never realised the Qantas lounge doesn't open until 14:30, i transferred terminals after check in to find it closed. I am a big fan of the Singapore QF lounge. But the SATS Premier lounge didn't quite cut it, neither did the Golden Lounge in KL.

Lounge access with expired Qantas card

All worked as advised, no need to show Qantas card. Neither lounges were anything to write home about, but it's better then nothing.

Lounge access with expired Qantas card

My Qantas Gold card is valid to June 2016, and my new one has arrived at home just after I left on my current trip. I will be travelling MH from SIN and KUL, will I still be able to get lounge access? Will their computers show my status? I presume if I use the Qantas lounge in Singapore, they...

    Entering Dubai from Transit area

You will always find something to do in Dubai and will find malls alive until very late. Whether to go out is really an individual decision. There is a metro from the airport into the city, and the Dubai Mall and the Mall of the Emirates are both worth a visit if you've never been (indoor ski...

Why London is the world's greatest city.

London is a good place to live if you have a decent amount of cash, normal salaries just don't cut it. But thats the same with many major cities I guess. Coming from the UK, I certainly think we have a better quality of life on the outskirts of Sydney then we'd have had in London, despite loving...

Flights before and after cruise South America

Presumedly you finish in Valparaiso? So a shuttle service will be available to Santiago Airport. As for Fort Lauderdale, you can look at options into Miami to cut costs if flying it Fort Lauderdale is too expensive. Consider searching return to Los Angeles and then search for single flights LAX...

Where to stay for 1 night in Singapore

If they've never been to Singapore, I'd definitely suggest staying in the city. Sentosa Island is an option, but can mean missing out on the Singapore experience, good for subsequent or longer stays. The alternative is new the airport for convenience (such as one of the hotels near the expo)...

    Muscat International Airport Lounge

Are you sure you used the Oman Air lounge 12 months ago? The lounge in the photo looks the same as it's looked for quite a few years. I used to live in Muscat and flew out regularly in J with Oman Air. Absolutely amazing country Oman, the gem of the Middle East.

    Cathay Business class seats

The seats are interesting when flying with young children, I remember when my son was 3 years old and had been quietly enjoying movies from Hong Kong and on approach I'd buckled him in to his seat, only for him to suddenly appear casually by my seat about 30 seconds before landing calmly sucking...

    What makes a frequent flyer

To be a frequent flyer, by definition you must fly regularly. Status isn't a great indicator of a frequent flyer, because if you work for a company with a 'cheapest' ticket policy, you will be on fares that earn very little and always changing airline and alliance each time you travel; and on...

Why is LHR-SYD rtn cheaper than SYD-LHR rtn

In all classes there are some superb deals flying from the UK to Australia, yet vice versa the prices are often considerably higher. Is there any reason for this? Extra taxes and fees? Or is just pure economics, supply and demand? The present BHX-DOH-SYD rtn deal with Qatar is a great example...

Australian Purchased GPS Navigator for the USA

I have a Garmin and have maps for the US, Europe and Australia. Surprisingly it can be cheaper to buy a new sat nav in the different places you go to then buying the maps, especially Tom Tom. But generally its pretty easy to update the maps. You can also buy sat nav apps for the iPhone which...
