    SYD Express immigration

With PPS card in SIN, their prices are hard to beat, and it saves stuffing around inbound.

Anybody get annual fee waived for Centurion Card?

I recently had this discussion with Amex, especially as they wanted almost double $$$ for the titanium version, for little extra of value to me...no luck, so I have downgraded myself to platinum. They were willing to offer some benefits, such as bonus miles, but not enough to make it worthwhile.

    SYD Express immigration

Had three recent SYD (QF side) experiences...first two inbound...last one, E lane quick and no waiting, took form. Previous one, went to wrong end and there was no queue, so I continued through, they still took the form. I quite firmly and deliberately asked for it back as I wasn't using the E...

APEC Business Travel Card - Express Immigration Clearance

Given a couple of experiences when they have called over "rank and file" as they were empty and I then had to line up and wait for the 6 or 10 non-apec/aircrew pax to be cleared, allowing us the occasional relation to slip through with us shouldn't be a drama for them. As Lindsay suggests, it...

APEC Business Travel Card - Express Immigration Clearance

As mentioned earlier, getting a CEO letter clarifying and supporting goes a long way. I did that for my son when he joined the business and I confirmed he travels/will travel as my regional production manager, and Immi accepted it. I also assume as part of their checks they can access...

APEC Business Travel Card - Express Immigration Clearance

I have found China entry/exit to be really good about the APEC card, from Shanghai (2 lanes at the right now), Lo Wou and two other border crossings when I have been driven from remote Daya Bay back to HKG. They always look for visa by habit, but quickly recognise the APEC card.

APEC Business Travel Card - Express Immigration Clearance

There is an APEC lane in Shenzhen as well, also to the right. It is a VIP/APEC lane. Also be aware thet entering China via Lo Wu/Shenzhen they use different immigration and customs forms than entering by air. On the way out the departure form is the "standard" blue departure form.

APEC Business Travel Card - Express Immigration Clearance

I found the "original" trial to be more "accommodating" and reliable - maybe because the face scan was real time, than the new system - where it's based on the digital photo sent in for the passport. I now know why we are not allowed to smile - there is nothing to smile about on re-entry!

APEC Business Travel Card - Express Immigration Clearance

I haven't found the smartgates (SYD) to be so effective with my new passport. Even the immi guys who come to help when I throw a tantrum think it's going to fail, then about half the time it will give the green light. My feeling is the digital images and reality are not so close. I tend to...

APEC Business Travel Card - Express Immigration Clearance

These Immi people are just so responsive. Here is the reply to my request regarding US APEC approvals from last night: Dear infoworks The USA have not yet given a start date for when they will begin processing applications, but they will not automatiucally process existing applications. We...

APEC Business Travel Card - Express Immigration Clearance

I assume so. I have already emailed Immi asking that question, and requesting clearance, if they can yet do it. I suspect signing and ding may be eons apart!!! I also assume in the interim they will continue to allow use of air crew lanes. Hopefully it will also mean Mexico and Canada may...

APEC Business Travel Card - Express Immigration Clearance

I admit to always being in "two minds" about telling others of the card and benefits, however I notice it's been featured several times recently in travel programs, articles and stories, so I too suspect the lines will be getting longer!

APEC Business Travel Card - Express Immigration Clearance

Why not? If they approve you to come for business, surely they'll be glad you come for a holiday! I have had my son/partner come in with me, I have ticked business, they have holiday - not even noticed. Mostly the info is statistical, although there are occasions when they ask "what are you...

APEC Business Travel Card - Express Immigration Clearance

On the contrary. Even though it's unlikely there is a plane arive ahead of you, and depending where you are in the rush to get off (I am usually first), they only have 2-3 immigration lines plus the APEC line. I have had 4-5 people lined up behind me in that line and 20 deep in the others (it's...

APEC Business Travel Card - Express Immigration Clearance

I'm still awaiting only PNG for my renewal. I do go there, but not in the next few months, so I haven't worried as I have an interim card for the economies I am regularly visiting. Plan to check again when I return at end Aug and may email then if still outstanding (I don't mind SP).

APEC Business Travel Card - Express Immigration Clearance

My experience is most economies are OK with it, including Japan, HKG, SIN, AUS, Malaysia. As always the trick is to be courteous.

APEC Business Travel Card - Express Immigration Clearance

My renewal is still short two economies after 3 months - PNG (I go there) and Peru! I requested an interim card on Friday as I'll not be visting either of the above soon and my old card is about to expire. According to immi there is a shortage of card stock at the moment and they are being...

APEC Business Travel Card - Express Immigration Clearance

A couple of things: 1. From 1 April the application fee increased to A$200. 2. I have it on reliable authority that following the APEC meeting in Tokyo last week, both Canada and Mexico will also allow cardholders to use the crew lanes a la USA. Mexico is already listed on the business...

    OT Virgin Check In Story

I think this is an "urban myth" based on old airline jokes, but supposedly recently true. I am sceptical, but post it for interest's sake! For all Employees Who Deal With Rude Customers. An award should go to the Virgin Airlines gate attendant in Sydney some weeks ago for being smart and...
