    QF89

Well we arrived back on one piece, almost five hours late. The vibe in the lounge changed when all the connecting passengers were going to miss their flights to MEL, LAX etc. Some were pretty relaxed about it, some were not amused with being on the early flights the next morning. I didn't engage...

    QF89

Looks like they had an issue with QF89, departed BNE then pulled a figure-eight and back to BNE. Does anyone have any news? We're waiting to go back on QF90.

Qantas flying an A330 to Noumea today

I saw it depart NOU. We're stuck here waiting for QF90. Does anyone know what happened to QF89, took off then returned to BNE. At least we are enjoying the Hibiscus lounge.

Noumea. Flying Qantas and Aircalin in J.

Thank you for your report, it was very interesting and useful as we're going next week. I shall have to document points of interest and useful tips as well.

Qantas Neighbour Free seating: Worth paying for?

Seems like a good way to increase working capital for QF.

Flight delayed, missed connection and abandoned by Qantas

Madness. I literally can't trust an airline to fly my 76 yo mother interstate anymore. She wants to do BNE to MEL to visit some friends, I'm going to fly with her down and back and return vv. alone just so I can be there to aid with any irrops.

    Bonza Airline Discussion

Even on VFR travel, you won't wan to fly an airline that isn't daily out of the destination - something comes up and you're stuck in the boonies for a day or two.

You know you are a former frequent flyer when...

When you put your suitcases in the garage. Driving to Toowoomba just to try some new hot chips.

VA axes ‘Fly Ahead’ for Gold frequent flyers

VA2 needs to do anything to get FF up to Platinum I suppose. In a past life I would book the last flight out of SYD, then wind up my day in the afternoon and ask nicely to go home (BNE or MEL) at about 3pm. Usually wasn't an issue, sometimes the check-in agent would call up someone and ask if...

Are seatbelt sizes the same in J as in Y

I found they vary wildly as well. Just ask for the extension when you board, worked for me.

Is Rex censoring social media comments?

Of couse. Especially on facebook, we used to run ads however spent too much time deleting comments and stupid statements from people who just make stuff up. No more. The Ds and Es generally believe everything they read on the internet, so you need to cull the cough from your comment feed.

    The NSW TrainLink Discovery Pass

A while ago I commuted Maitland - Sydney and return a few days a week. Used to rush like mad to wind up and get the Brisbane XPT from Central to Maitland - beats the coughkansen then the railcars to Maitland. Two points of interest - one, the coffee from the buffet is a coffee bag in a cup of hot...

Bain billions keep Virgin aloft as private equity giant takes over liabilities --- Heavily Abridged Main Points: Bain Capital plans to inject as much as $600m in cash into Virgin to keep it running. The upfront cash is part of a package, including $600m to take over existing travel credits...

A toast to Virgin Australia, some fond memories

Virgin Blue since 2001. Playing pool and video games in the Brisbane Blue Room. Live2Air was magic. Flights went in a blink. Listening to people cheer for their team watching the game live, then screaming out when we banked and the satellite dropped out for a moment. Crazy $1 domestic fares...

Virgin Australia Financially Secure? [Now in Voluntary Administration]

This is intriguing. Random example - Lindsday Fox sees an opportunity and decides to have another lash at an airline. He owns an airport with hangars for storage and maintenance, the global market for aircraft is through the floor, and as you say staff and suppliers ready to go and negotiating...

Where will you go first when the bans are lifted?

New Caledonia, friends' house in Mont-Dore. Supposed to be there now. Thanks China. When the UK is back to whatever normal will be, a few weeks' trainspotting and chasing down brutalist architecture.

Virgin Australia Business Class - Meals, Menus & Service

VA329 Melbourne to Brisbane. Lunches. Lamb empanadas. Meh. Noodle salad. Wife said it was ok. Looks like the cheese and biscuits are the new normal. It's been a few months between flights for me, I suspect the accountants have put a ruler over the food.

    Virgin Lounge Food

Premium check in took about five minutes. Sorry I'm not talkative today, was released from hospital earlier this week and barely functioning. Mrs T brought over some risotto, too many vegetable ingredients. Not bad for a lounge. I hope you have a nice flight.
